Holiday won't the same without Crabiel For me, every year the day would start at the Crabiel Funeral Home, where people would assemble before starting to march in the parade. There, Dave Crabiel would emerge, bigger than life with his red, white and blue tie, greeting people and shaking hands. Dave told me on more than one occasion that as an elected official you can tell a lot from a parade — you can tell if the people are mad at you or if they think you are doing a good job.I think he was right. Last year through the entire parade route, you would hear people screaming his name, "Dave, Dave, Dave." Last year on Election Day when the votes were tallied, he was not only the highest votegetter in Milltown, he won by a landslide in the county.
To me, Milltown's Fourth of July will always be a special day, but it will never be the same with the passing of David B. Crabiel, truly a man among men. |
