• Bedtime Bags Drive, sponsored by the Junior Woman's Club of the Greater Brunswick Area. Seeking donations of new children's books, pajamas, stuffed animals and small blankets to be used in creating Bedtime Bags that will be donated to Foster and Adoptive Family Services. Bedtime Bags encourage foster parents to read bedtime stories with their foster children, helping to bond foster families together and boost children's literacy skills. June 4-16

• Spring-Into-Summer Book Sale, sponsored by the Spotswood Public Library, during regular operating hours, at the library, 548 Main St. Hardcover books, paperbacks, children's books, VHS videos, audiocassettes. Paperbacks sell for 50 cents each or three for $1, hardcovers for $1 and up, VHS videos for $1. All-You-Can-Carry-for-$10 Sale on the last two days of event, June 15 and 16. All sales final. Proceeds benefit the library and its programs. 732-251-1515.

June 4-July 5

• Food Drive, to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, in the main lobby of the Chelsea at East Brunswick, 680 Cranbury Road. Items sought include: canned fish/meat; powdered milk and infant formulas; boxed meals (pasta, potatoes, rice); canned meals (macaroni and cheese, chili, stews, meaty soups); peanut butter (plastic jars only); canned fruit and vegetables. Donors asked to check expiration dates. Items in glass or cellophane will not be accepted. Community FoodBank operates emergency food pantries, soup kitchens and feeding programs for seniors and children across New Jersey. Food drive organized by the Health Care Association of New Jersey, an umbrella group of longterm care facilities, including Chelsea assisted-living communities. 732-651-6100.

• Scramble (Tricky Tray), sponsored by the Columbiettes of Immaculate Conception Knights of Columbus Council No. 4907, doors open at 6:30 p.m., event begins at 8 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Crescent Avenue, Spotswood. • Pasta Dinner for Breast Cancer, 4:30- 8:30 p.m., at the Jamesburg Fire Department, 82 W. Railroad Ave. Spaghetti or penne pasta with alfredo/vodka sauces. Takeouts available. • Townwide Garage Sale, sponsored by the Historic Village of Old Bridge, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Old Bridge Turnpike to Chestnut Street and Kossman Street, East Brunswick. Rain date is June 13. Estate sales included.

• Casino Night, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes School, doors open at 4:30 p.m., gaming ends at 9:30 p.m., at the school, 44 Cleveland Ave., Milltown. Blackjack, roulette, craps and a No-Limit Texas Hold'Em Tournament. Must be at least 21 years old to purchase tickets and enter the casino/tournament. Casino opens at 5:30 p.m., closes at 9:30 p.m. Each casino ticket, available in advance for $25 or at the door for $35, includes admission, $100 in "play" money, one drink ticket, one door-prize ticket. Casino prizes include a sightseeing flight over New York City and dinner for two, gift baskets, gift cards. Food available for purchase; 50/50. • Giant Yard Sale, sponsored by Sayreville Pet Adoption Center, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., in the parking lot at the center, 1400 Main St. Donations of items for the sale accepted at the shelter 11 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5 and 6 only. • Poker Run, a motorbike event sponsored by Spotswood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4589 POW-MIA (Prisoner of War-Missing in Action) Awareness Group, registration 9-11 a.m., at the post home, 33 Daniel Road. Destination is the Hightstown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Dutch Neck Road. End-site celebration features homemade food, spirits, bike games, bike contest, tattoo contest, more. Proceeds used to send packages to U.S. troops overseas and to provide supplies to wounded veterans at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Donation is $20 per person. Public welcome. • Proceeds Night, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes School, Milltown, 5-9 p.m., at TGI Friday's, Route 1 south, North Brunswick.
