On economic effect of open space program
      Considering the open-space programs being conducted by New Jersey cities, I wonder what effect these programs have on the local economy. Take, for example, East Brunswick's purchase of Heavenly Farms at a cost of $12 million for "open space." What would have happened if this purchase wasn't made?

      This letter is regarding the new Wal-Mart store that is proposed for Old Bridge. We have enough stores — we do not need another Wal-Mart. There is a Wal-Mart just 10 minutes from where the new one would be built. We have enough traffic in this town — we do not need more.

      Jamesburg, like many towns, is struggling with its budget this year, and I can appreciate that fact. However, I find it odd that at the same time we are cutting positions and begging for state aid, we have enough money to give raises to our employees.

Takes issue with characterization of synagogue
      In the Feb. 19 issues of the Sentinel and Suburban newspapers, under the title "Chabad House Has New Site for Programs, Shop," the first paragraph reads: "The first Orthodox synagogue in township history has opened in a former office building at the corner of Prospect Plains and Applegarth roads.
