Margaret Anne Berndt

Mrs. Berndt, 70, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 21, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Jersey City, she was a resident of East Brunswick for 40 years. Mrs. Berndt was a teacher in the East Brunswick School District for 21 years, having taught at the Hammarskjöld, Churchill and Bowne-Munroe schools before retiring in 2001. She was a past president of the Bowne-Munroe School PTA. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sister Patricia McCarthy and Kathleen Mc- Carthy. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Robert P. Berndt; a son, Robert J. Berndt of East Brunswick; a daughter, Margaret Berndt Loftus of East Brunswick; and a brother, James Mc- Carthy of Jersey City. Entombment was at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.
