E.B. cops medal at internat'l games
Two officers from the East Brunswick Police Department participated in the 2008 International Police and Fire Games, held in August at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla. The games provide the opportunity for international competition among law enforcement officers and firefighters in more than 40 different events.

Sgt. Daniel Melnick
East Brunswick Detective Sgt. Daniel Melnick placed second in the 10K cross country run, earning a Silver Medal. Patrolman Donald Carruth competed in the 191- pound weight class in freestyle wrestling. In the semifinals, Carruth pinned his opponent, from the Brevard County Florida Sheriff's Office, in one minute, 18 seconds, advancing him to the finals. Carruth then earned a Gold Medal by pinning his opponent from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russia, in two minutes, 47 seconds.

The department commended both for their efforts and hard work. The officers trained and competed on their own time and at their own expense, according to a press release from the department.
