Make-Difference Day celebrated on Oct. 4

Join other community volunteers in cleaning up the parks in East Brunswick Oct. 4 for National Make-a-Difference Day: Be the Change, hosted by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT), United Way of Central Jersey and East Brunswick's Clean Communities Program. Kickoff time is 9 a.m. at Bicentennial Park in East Brunswick. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to volunteer.

Be the Change, formerly known as National Gandhi Day of Service, is an annual national day of service to inspire and foster civic engagement through volunteerism and community service. Every year, hundreds of individuals participate in community service nationwide in the spirit of Gandhi's most famous quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Free T-shirts will be provided to all volunteers with refreshments and volunteer recognition at the East Brunswick Library at noon. Register before the event at www.saalt.org. For more information, call Govinda Rajan at 732-254-0121.
