Sept. 4-13

• End-of-Summer Book Sale, sponsored by the Spotswood Public Library, during regular hours, at the library, 548 Main St. Interested individuals invited to preview a selection of "nearly new" books on art, architecture and design, biography and history, each selling for $5. Hardcover books, paperbacks, children's books, VHS videos, audiocassettes available. Paperbacks sell for 50 cents each or three for $1, hardcovers for $1 and up, VHS videos for $1. All-You-Can-Carryfor$ 5 Sale set for the last two days of the event, Sept. 12 and 13. All sales final. Proceeds benefit the library and its programs. 732-251-1515.

• Giant Yard Sale, sponsored by the Level Club of South River, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Masonic Temple, 120 Old Bridge Turnpike, South River. Rain date is Sept. 7. Call Robert Szegeti at 732-390-5732.

• Car Wash, sponsored by the First Reformed Church, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., in the parking lot at the church, 40 Thomas St., South River. Use the parking-lot entrance on Leland Street. Rain date is Sept. 13. 732-257-1994.

• Tiki Night, sponsored by the South Amboy Elks, 6-11 p.m., at the lodge, Washington Street. Cost is $25 per person; includes food, open bar, DJ, live music. Call Jack at 732-727-7170.

• Car Wash, sponsored by the Spotswood High School Touchdown Club. 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at Spotswood High School, 105 Summerhill Road, Spotswood. Proceeds benefit the football program. Cost is $5 per car.

• 100-mile Century for the Cure Bike Ride, to benefit cutting-edge research at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), New Brunswick, eventday registration at 6 a.m., race begins at 7 a.m., at Camp Riverbend, Warren. Sept. 6 & Saturdays ongoing

• Organic Fertilizer and Home- Cleaning Product Sale, featuring chemical free products, sponsored by the Lawrence Brook Watershed Partnership, 10 a.m.-noon, at the group's headquarters building, 85 Washington Ave., Milltown. The nonprofit partnership, dedicated to the protection of the Lawrence Brook Watershed, encourages area residents to avoid the use of toxic lawn and garden products and cleaning liquids. Sept. 8

• Autism Charity Golf Outing, sponsored by the New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC), a nonprofit organization providing information, advocacy, family and professional education and consultation to the autism community, shotgun start at 1:30 p.m., at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe. Day of golfing, hole-in-one car giveaway, Hit-the-Green contests, luncheon, cocktail hour, silent auction, awards dinner. Sept. 10

• Proceeds Night, sponsored by St. Stanislaus Kostka School, Sayreville, at TGI Friday's, Route 9 north, Old Bridge. Participants should tell their server they are there to support St. Stan's. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of each supporter's bill (eat in or takeout) to the school.

Sept. 12

• Paris Fashions Sale, sponsored by the Raritan Bay Medical Center Old Bridge Auxiliary, 7 a.m.-4 p.m., in Auxiliary Hall B and C, lower level of the Medical Arts Building, adjacent to the hospital's Old Bridge division, off Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18. Sept. 13

• Car Wash and Clothing Drive, sponsored by the East Brunswick Quarterback Club, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at East Brunswick High School, Cranbury Road. Cost is $5 per vehicle for the car wash.
