Alborada to perform 'The Feast of Sarah'

The Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre will present "The Feast of Sarah: A Gypsy Festival" at 8 p.m.May 31 at George Street Playhouse, 9 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

The cross-cultural performance will feature the entire Alborada company, the Daughters of Sofia Tribal Dance Company, the Talpra Hungarian Folk Dance Ensemble and the MetroFolk Gypsy Band.

Are-creation of the oldest religious festival in Saint Maries de la Mer, Camargue, France, towhich gypsiesmade their annual pilgrimage, the production will depict extended families of Spanish, Hungarian and Balkan originmeeting and celebratingwith dance and music around a caravan and campfire.

Funding for the production is provided in part by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the American Music Center Live Music for Dance.

Tickets cost $45 each, preferred seating; $23, general admission; $17, seniors and students; $20 each for groups of 10 ormore; $25, at the door.
