Greek Festival on tap at St. George's Church

St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Road, Piscataway, will hold its 35th annual Greek Festival from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on May 16, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on May 17 and noon to 8 p.m. on May 18.

Highlights will include Greek food, live music by the Golden Greeks Orchestra, traditional Greek folk dancing by the church's four dance groups, a gift shop, church tours and cultural information. A May 17 Taverna Night will feature music provided by a DJ, an outdoor bar, and souvlaki and gyro stands open until 1 a.m. Taverna Night will be included with the regular festival admission.

Donation is $2 per person; children under age 12 will be admitted free of charge. Admission will be free of charge until 4 p.m. on May 16. Proceeds from the festival will assist the church in its cultural and community programming. Free parking and shuttle service will be available at the church and at Rutgers Stadium, Piscataway.

Advance orders for takeout food may be e-mailed to Festival2008@patmedia. net. Contact name and telephone number should be included in the e-mail. Food may be picked up approximately 10 minutes after the order is placed.
