For the Record

South River Board of Education Vice President Gregory Palaski served on the borough's Downtown Development Commission in the late 1990s. The agency is now called the Economic Development Commission. Also, Palaski was involved in the PACE (ParentsAlliance for Children's Education) group in 1994- 95. The group was successful in registering voters, passing the first school budget in 19 years and passing the referendum for the elementary and middle schools. Board President Regis Wyluda said he disagreed with the claims of his opposing candidates about test scores in the district being low. He noted that test scores are increasing every year in South River, and the math curriculum at the high school is being changed for next year, as the Singapore math program continues to expand beyond the sixth-grade level.
