Surrogate office opens in borough

SPOTSWOOD - The Middlesex County Surrogate Court has opened a satellite office at the Spotswood Senior Center, 1 Arlington Ave.

The satellite office, which opened Tuesday and is the seventh such office in the county, will handle all probate matters, such as wills, administrations and guardianship of minors, that are handled in the main office in New Brunswick.

Middlesex County Surrogate Kevin J. Hoagland said borough officials in Spotswood requested the office be opened due to a high number of resident inquiries.

The county also has Surrogate Court offices in Woodbridge, Edison, Piscataway, East Brunswick, Monroe and North Brunswick.

"The satellite offices enable the county to meet the needs of our residents by offering times and locations that are convenient to them," Hoagland said. "It's not always easy or even possible for some people to get to our main office, so we go to them."

The office will be open Tuesday afternoons by appointment. Those interested in making an appointment or obtaining more information should call (732) 745-3055.
