Two new patrol officers join EBPD

EAST BRUNSWICK - The police department is welcoming two new officers to its ranks.

Michael Methner, 24, of East Brunswick, was sworn in as a patrolman in October and has recently completed his field training.

Methner is a graduate of Middlesex County College, Edison, with an associate degree in criminal justice. He completed his basic police training at the John H. Stamler Police Academy, Scotch Plains, and has spent two years working for the Middlesex County College Police Department as a patrolman.

Kimberly Rufolo, of Cranford, will be sworn in to the police department on Dec. 19. Rufolo is a graduate of Cranford High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in justice studies from Montclair University.

She graduated earlier this month from the Union County Police Academy Alternate Route Program. Rufolo has previously served as an emergency medical technician with the Cranford First Aid Squad.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the East Brunswick Municipal Courtroom.

The two new members of the patrol division take the places of officers who retired earlier this year, according to Lt. William Krause, the department spokesman. Krause said the police force would remain at its previous size of 93 sworn officers.
