Pets perish in E.B. house fire

JEFF GRANIT staff The windows and doors of a house on Biernacki Court, East Brunswick, are boarded after a fire swept through the house Monday afternoon, killing a pet dog and two cats. The homeowner arrived home to find the house on fire and called 911. Police found heavy smoke and visible flames upon their arrival, and all three East Brunswick fire districts responded. The house was later deemed uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is undetermined, District 1 Fire Marshal John Talbot said yesterday. An investigation determined the point of origin was in a back-room den on the first floor. The fire is not considered suspicious and was not caused by an electrical problem, Talbot said.
