On the importance of enforcing all the rules I encourage the department and the Borough Council to help enforce all the rules that Milltown made to make our community a safe environment in which to live and visit. Our quality of life and environment in Milltown should be important to everyone who lives here. Unfortunately, I have recently become aware of the lack of strict or any enforcement of the rules and regulations regarding residential and commercial parking throughout our town. This, too, impacts our quality of life. Our streets have become overcrowded with commercial trucks, boats, trailers, cars parked the wrong way, and uninspected vehicles. When a driver cannot see around a stop sign due to vehicles parking too close to the corner, we endanger all people, whether they are walking or driving. When both sides of the streets have illegally parked vehicles, the streets become difficult to maneuver. In addition, we have also become lax in the use of "pack-rat" trailers scattered all over town. As people pass through our small borough they should be greeted by uncluttered streets, clean residential yards, commercial buildings and empty lots that are more pleasing to the eye. I think Milltown has become a "less friendly looking town." Joan Harknett Milltown |
