Obituaries John V. Hanson Mr. Hanson, 95, of South Amboy, died Aug. 23, 2007, in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Prior to his retirement in 1974, he was employed as a computer programmer in the data-processing department at Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 37 years. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Leon Florek. Surviving are his wife, Agatha Keith Hanson; three children, Patricia Florek of East Brunswick, Joan Turner, and her husband, Gary, of Hazlet, and Richard Hanson, and his wife, Gloria, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy, Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick. Perroth Mr. Perroth, 92, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 31, 2007, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed for 19 years as head custodian at Lawrence Brook School and Memorial School, both East Brunswick. Prior to that, he worked at Raritan Arsenal, Edison. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Cliff Perroth; a daughter, Kathleen Rabbe, and her husband, Mark, of Westford, Mass.; three sisters, Florence Larson of Staten Island, N.Y., and Margaret Monahan and Evelyn Morgan, both of Florida; and a grandson. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Anthony Luschinski Mr. Luschinski, 86, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 21, 2007, at home. His first wife, Olga Molnar Luschinski, died in 1964, and his second wife, Tokie Yoshioka Luschinski, died in 2006. Surviving are a son, Anthony Luschinski Jr., and his wife, Maryanne, of Easton, Md.; a sister, Helen Buttcher of Old Bridge; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Cooper of Redlands, Calif.; two stepsons, Duane Miyagishima of New York City and Glenn Miyagishima of Walnut, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Linda J. Conine Scefcyk Mrs. Scefcyk, 59, of Spotswood, formerly of East Brunswick, died Aug. 20, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are two daughters and a son, Lin Lowenfels, and her husband, David, of Edison, Kara Scefcyk of Spotswood and John Longo, and his wife, Lisa, of South Amboy; two brothers, James and Kevin Conine of New York; a granddaughter, Fiona Lowenfels; her former husband, John Longo; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew's Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Minnie Barbara Mutz Burns Mrs. Burns, 91, of Old Bridge, died July 20, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry W. Burns, and by a son, John Burns. Surviving are three sons, Robert Burns of Highlands Ranch, Colo., William Burns of East Brunswick and Edward Burns of Middlesex; three daughters, Geraldine Bruno of the Whiting section of Manchester, Katharine Dlouhy of Hainesport and Patricia Serio of Monroe; a sister, Elizabeth Fritz of the Great Meadows section of Liberty; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew's Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Antonio Giassi Mr. Giassi, 86, of Monroe, formerly of Aberdeen, died Aug. 4, 2007, in the Elms at Cranbury. Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was employed by the borough of Matawan Road Department, where he worked for 10 years. Before that he was a self-employed carpenter for many years. His first wife, Alma Damiani Giassi, died in 1979, and a daughter, Gabriella Giassi Landrum, died in 1986. Surviving are his wife, Linda Corsi Giassi; a daughter, Bruna Devino of Union Beach; a stepson, John Zangrando of East Brunswick; a sister, Marucci Tamburlini of Trieste, Italy; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Clement's Church, Matawan. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. Walter J. "Pete" Casey Mr. Casey, 93, of South Amboy, died Aug. 31, 2007. He and his late brother, Bob, and their late father, Robert A. Casey, owned and operated the Raritan Valley Farms milk business, South Amboy and Perth Amboy, until 1960. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed as a teller with Amboy National Bank, where he worked for 34 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Theresa Carini Casey. Surviving are two daughters, Corinne Casey- Lyons of San Mateo, Calif., and Mary Casey- Griffin, and her husband, Stan, of Point Pleasant; a grandson, Michael Griffin; two nieces and two nephews; a goddaughter; and several cousins, A Mass was offered at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Coelho Mr. Coelho, 26, of Roselle Park, died Aug. 30, 2007, in a work-related accident. He was a professional roofer for 12 years. Surviving are his fiancé, Kim Farrell of Roselle Park; his parents, Jose and Dulce of Sayreville; a brother, Pedro, and his wife, Michelle, a nephew, Alec, and a niece, Sevanna, all of Sayreville; his grandmother, Maria Lourdes Coelho of Portugal; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass was offered at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville. Thomas Gowen Mr. Gowen, 59, of Freehold Township, died Aug. 24, 2007, in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was employed for the past year as a general manager for Circle Chevrolet, Shrewsbury. Prior to that, he was a manager for Kelle Chevrolet, Howell; Brunswick Pontiac Buick GMC, East Brunswick; Sansone Auto Network, Perth Amboy; and Whelan Pontiac Buick GMC, George Hughes Chevrolet and S.B. King and Son Inc., all Freehold Township. He was predeceased by his wife, Pamela J. Gowen, in 2005. Surviving are two brothers, Gerald D. Gowen of South River and Richard Gowen of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Loretta "Jeannie" Bollinger of North Brunswick; and many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews. Marchitelli Mrs. Marchitelli, 64, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 31, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was employed as a noontime supervisor with the Old Bridge Township Board of Education, where she worked for 17 years. A son, Lawrence Marchitelli, died in 2001. Surviving are her husband, Joseph A. Marchitelli; a son, Anthony Marchitelli of Belleville; a daughter, Jodi Dorion of Old Bridge; and six grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Mr. Meyers, 21, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of Old Bridge, died Aug. 21, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. A 2004 graduate of Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High Schools, East Brunswick, he was employed as a stock clerk at ShopRite, Parlin, and before that, at ShopRite, Matawan. Surviving are his parents, Arnold Meyers of Old Bridge and Debra Bonsante Meyers of Parlin; two sisters, Lauren and Annabella Meyers, both of Parlin; his maternal grandmother, Carmella Squillace of South River; his paternal grandmother, Grace Meyers of Old Bridge; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Private cremation followed. |
