Obituaries Charles E. Duma Mr. Duma, 66, of Spotswood, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Aug. 8, 2007, in Briarwood Care Center, Sayreville. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed as a receiving operator with E.I. DuPont, Parlin, where he worked for 33 years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Presti Duma; a brother, Richard Duma of Sayreville; a sister and brother-inlaw, Dolores and Gary Latendorf of High Bridge; and a nephew. John C. Kenny Mr. Kenny, 75, of Milltown, died Aug. 7, 2007, at home. Prior to his retirement in 1996, he was a professor of social sciences and criminology at Middlesex County College, Edison. A member of the Milltown Borough Council from 1972-75, he served on the finance committee and as the mayor's representative to the Milltown Library Association. He was a former member of the Milltown Recreation Committee; a former trustee, president and treasurer of the Milltown Public Library; and chairman of the Milltown Library Guidance Committee. Surviving are his wife, Anna Kenny; two daughters, Kathleen Ruvolo of North Brunswick and Karen Proia, and her husband, Jim, of Florida; a son, Jay Kenny, and his wife, Laura, of Monroe; a brother, Gerald Kenny, and his wife, Rosemary, of Sayreville; a brother-in-law, John Martin of Milltown; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Milltown. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Sally Kielian Gonzalez Mrs. Gonzalez, 85, of the Somerset section of Franklin, formerly of Sayreville, died July 19, 2007, in Willow Creek Care Center, Somerset. Prior to her retirement, she was a waitress at Bosco's Diner, South River. Her husband, Primo, died in 2001. Surviving are two sisters, Helen Modzelewski of East Brunswick and Stella Sheridan of Bayville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Interment was in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, also Sayreville. Thomas A. Klein Mr. Klein, 76, of Monroe, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Aug. 11, 2007, in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was a former deacon at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gisela G. Klein, and by two sons, Paul and Christopher. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Klein; two sons, Michael Klein, and his wife, Judith, of Westwood and Samuel Klein, and his wife, Michele, of Jackson; five daughters, Diane Flakker of Sayreville, Susan Miller, and her husband, Jeff, of Perkasie, Pa., Bettina Bennis, and her husband, John, of Woodbridge, Heidemarie Klein of Rahway and Margaret Furbush, and her husband, Bret, of Parlin; a brother, John Klein of Florida; and 12 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Dorothy Barbara Jones Miller Mrs. Miller, 80, of Spotswood, died Aug. 10, 2007, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Robert Miles Miller; two sons, James Miller, and his wife, Maggie, of Spotswood, and George F. Rasch, and his wife, Barbara, of Old Bridge; and six grandchildren. Tib Holland, 3160 Francis Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004. Jerome "Jerry" J. Torbik Mr. Torbik, 74, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 25, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. A tool-and-die maker with New Jersey Tool & Die Co., Kenilworth, he also worked for Lincoln Mold Co., Roselle, for more than 10 years before retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus, Old Bridge. He was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Torbik; a son, Andrew J. Torbik, and his wife, Nicola, of Freehold; a daughter, Jennifer A. Chan, and her husband, Max, of Howell; three brothers, Andrew Torbik of Pennsylvania, George Torbik of Rahway and Donald Torbik of Linden; two sisters, Regina Lewczak of Elizabeth and Janice Montgomery of Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Lynsey, Carrie, Sara and Nathaniel. Alfred J. Serra Mr. Serra, 79, of Sayreville, died Aug. 9, 2007, at home. Surviving are his wife, Alice S. Serra; two daughters, Rosemary Dantas, and her husband, Fernando, of Old Bridge, and Elizabeth Barreiro, and her husband, Joe, of Sayreville; and three grandchildren. Howard Feld Mr. Feld, 79, of Monroe, died Aug. 22, 2007, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Frances Simonoff Feld; a daughter, Linda Schoendorf, and her husband, Barry, of Cranbury; two sons, Jerry, and his wife, Paula, of East Brunswick and Ira, and his wife, Carla, of Baton Rouge, La; a brother, Raymond Feld of Monroe; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Interment was in King Solomon Cemetery, Clifton. Frances Gerstenacker Tighe Mrs. Tighe, 76, of South River, died Aug. 22, 2007. She was employed as a secretary with Johnson and Johnson and Rutgers University, both New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, W. Dudley Tighe; a son, Kevin Tighe of Virginia; two daughters, Arlene Chatfield of Pennsylvania and Kathleen Alves of Maryland; a brother, Wayne Gerstenacker of Howell; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Stephen Yaeger Mr. Yaeger, 70, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 21, 2007, at home. Surviving are his wife, Carol Czap Yaeger; a daughter, Ann Yeager of East Brunswick; two sons, Rick Yaeger of Texas, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and Stephen Yaeger of New Orleans; two sisters, Betty Ann Norris of Carteret and Mary Jane Michalic of Union Beach; and a brother, Robert Yaeger of Las Vegas, Nev. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was private. James J. Collender Jr.
Mr. Collender, 52, of Old Bridge, died Aug. 3, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. He was a former member of the Old Bridge Planning Board. He was predeceased by his mother, Jeanette Newcomb Collender; his father, James J. Collender Jr.; a niece, Kathleen Nigro; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Ebinger. Surviving are three sisters, Joan Collender of Monroe, Maureen Walmsley, and her husband, Lester, of Hightstown and Laraine Ebinger of Conroe, Texas; two nephews; three nieces; three great-nieces; eight great-nephews; a great-great-nephew; and his friends, Theresa and Tom Hart.
