Aug. 3 & Fridays through Oct. 12 • Cruise Nights/Car Shows, sponsored by Just Us Cruisers Classic Car Club, 6-9 p.m., in the parking lot at 1980 Route 35 North, next to F-1 Motoring, South Amboy/Sayreville. Family-oriented events feature more than 50 antique and classic cars from across the tristate area. Trophies, games, music from the '50s, '60s, '70s. Aug. 4 • Ride for the Children Poker Run, sponsored by the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, New Jersey-Chapter 10, Spotswood, beginning with registration from 8-10 a.m., at the Center 18 Plaza/Burger King parking lot, Route 18 north (just south of Rues Lane, across from the Seville Diner), East Brunswick. Rain date is Aug. 5. Participants go on a 60-mile scenic ride with checkpoints at neighboring fire companies. Cost is $20 per biker, $10 per passenger. Entry fees include coffee and doughnuts at registration, food and beverages at the end of the ride, prizes for best hands. All proceeds benefit the Red Knights annual Christmas in July event at Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Individuals who are unable to attend the run may send a check (noting a donation for Christmas in July) to the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, New Jersey-Chapter 10, P.O. Box 142, Spotswood, NJ 08884. The nonprofit partnership, dedicated to the protection of the Lawrence Brook Watershed, encourages area residents to avoid the use of toxic lawn and garden products and cleaning liquids.
