Democratic candidates represented party, not borough

It has been a long-standing tradition in Milltown that for the Fourth of July parades the members of the Borough Council march together as one unit to represent the people of Milltown and the elected positions that they hold in the town.

This year the three Democrats running in the November election chose not to honor their positions but rather to snub the voters of Milltown. The three, Mike Skarzynski, Eric Steeber and Bill Deinzer, did not march with the council but rather marched with their own political party, showing yet again how out of touch the Milltown Democrats are with the voters and how party politics controls the actions of these individuals.

Gloria Bradford rode in the parade and proudly represented the residents of Milltown in her position as mayor. She then led the council, which this year was represented by Republicans John Collins and Randy Farkas and Democrat Joe Cruz.

As a voter I feel when someone is elected to a position, he or she should represent and fulfill all obligations of that position. If Skarzynski, Steeber and Deinzer cannot commit to fulfilling all their obligations as elected councilmen while running for re-election, they should resign their positions as councilmen.

It is clear by their actions that Skarzynski, Steeber and Deinzer do not feel they need to represent all of the people of Milltown, just those who belong to the Democratic Party.
