Driver ticketed after head-on collision on Milltown Road

EAST BRUNSWICK - A two-car head-on collision on Milltown Road sent four people to an area hospital with injuries June 5.

The accident, which occurred at 8:26 p.m., involved a 1995 Ford wagon that was being driven eastbound on Milltown Road by Ghulam Mehboob, 62, of South River, and a 1998 Oldsmobile being driven westbound on Milltown Road by 24-year-old Joseph Nemes, of North Brunswick.

Police said Nemes' vehicle, while turning left onto Jensen Street, crossed the solid yellow lane marking line and entered the oncoming lane, causing a head-on collision.

Mehboob and a 50-year-old passenger were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Nemes and his 23-year-old passenger had to be extricated from their vehicle by the East Brunswick Independent Fire Co. They were also transported to Robert Wood Johnson.

Police said none of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening.

Nemes was issued summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain a lane and failure to wear a seatbelt.
