Obituaries Ivan Dmitrienko Mr. Dmitrienko, 84, of South River, died April 27, 2007, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Helen; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonid "Len" and Vera Dmitrienko of Millstone Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Olga and David Selick of Freehold Township and Nina and John Lukianov of South River; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Howell. Interment was in Saints. Peter and Paul Cemetery, South River. Lillian Kessler Greene Mrs. Greene, 89, of Princeton, died May 24, 2007, at home. Her husband, Sidney Greene, died in 1989. Surviving are a son, Richard Greene, and his wife, Michelle, of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Marilyn Rosen, and her husband, Joseph, of Princeton and Linda Shaffer, and her husband, Daniel, of East Brunswick; a sister, Dorothy Schept of Bayonne; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in United Hebrew Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y.
Henry F. Hoenes Mr. Hoenes, 79, of East Brunswick, died May 28, 2007, at home. Surviving are his wife, Grace Braun Hoenes; two sons, Mark, and his wife, Lori, of Morristown, and Glenn of Matawan; a daughter, Kimberly Greco, and her husband, Nick, of Fullerton, Calif.; and three granddaughters. Services were held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, East Brunswick. Interment is planned for June 1 in the family plot in South Jersey. Gloria C. Reitsky Setzer Mrs. Setzer, 83, of East Brunswick, formerly of North Brunswick, died May 23, 2007, in University Medical Center at Princeton. Surviving are her husband, Henry Setzer; a daughter, Susan Podrygula, and her husband, Stephan, of Minot, N.D.; and a grandson, Andrew. Cremation was under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Joan C. Tyson Kafka Mrs. Kafka, 63, of East Brunswick, died May 23, 2007, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Kafka; four daughters, Heather Rovira, and her husband, Raymond, Victoria Olender, and her husband, Bernard, Joey Ann DiMaria, and her husband, Richard, and Tara Mee, and her husband, Michael, all of East Brunswick; a sister, Ruth Dyer, also of East Brunswick; nine grandchildren; and two nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew's Church, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. John W. Kersey Mr. Kersey, 84, of East Brunswick, died May 26, 2007, at home. Surviving are his wife, Arlene Bonello Kersey; a son, Kenneth Kersey, and his wife, Dorothy, of East Brunswick; two daughters, Kathleen Burg, and her husband, Robert, of Milltown, and Christine Cole, and her husband, John, of Spotswood; a brother, James Vian of Oklahoma; a sister, Willine McKimney of Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Eucharist was offered at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, South River. Interment was in Frost Wood Park Cemetery, East Brunswick. Grobelny Mr. Grobelny, 66, of Sayreville, died May 26, 2007, at home. He was employed for the past 25 years as an electrician for the borough of Sayreville Water and Sewer Department. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Edward Grobelny. Surviving are his brother, Dennis Grobelny of Sayreville; his nephews and nieces, Edward and Rachel Grobelny of Spotswood and Matthew and Cynthia Grobelny of Barnegat; and five great-nephews and great-nieces. Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church of Sayreville.
Libby Anne Conover Flynn Mrs. Flynn, 50, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died May 17, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was employed as a dispatcher with the Old Bridge Police Department for the past 16 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Frances and John Conover. Surviving are her husband, Stephen Flynn; a brother, John Conover of the Waretown section of Ocean Township; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Flynn of the Iselin section of Woodbridge; a sister, Margaret Rusbarsky of Jim Thorpe, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette's Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Cremation was private. Phyllis G. Meluso Mrs. Meluso, 76, of Holmdel, died May 22, 2007, in Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband, Arsey J. Meluso, and by a son-in-law, Matthew Picerno. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Julia Ann and Jimmy Mataras of Rivervale, Petrina Marie Picerno of Holmdel and Lois and Michael Gullace of Millstone; a brother, Anthony Giaccio of Wayne; and eight grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at St. Benedict's Church, Holmdel. Interment was in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Joseph P. Zawaski Mr. Zawaski, 58, of Howell, formerly of East Brunswick, died May 4, 2007, at home. Prior to his retirement in 2002, he was an auto assembler at the Ford assembly plant, Edison, for 32 years. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Denton Zawaski; two sons, Timothy Scott Zawaski and Thomas Francis Zawaski of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Tammy DeFrancesco of Jackson; a sister, Elizabeth Zawaski of Pompton Lakes; and two granddaughters. A funeral service was held at Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
Lillian Kelly Dorrian Mrs. Dorrian, 83, of East Brunswick, died May 17, 2007, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are two sons, John Dorrian, and his wife, Diane, of Estero, Fla., and Kevin Dorrian, and his wife, Joan, of North Brunswick; a daughter, Colleen Larrison, and her husband, Michael, of South Amboy; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, North Brunswick. Olga Kaminkov Bordak Mrs. Bordak, 70, of Old Bridge, formerly of South River, died May 28, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was employed as a cook for many years at Sayreville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4699 and at the Belarusian Center, South River. Prior to that, she and her late husband were the owners for seven years of Shacks Tavern, South River. Her husband, Michael, died in 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Lilly Gillish, and her husband, Barry, of South River, and Lora Bordak, and her companion, Lynne, of Old Bridge; a sister, Sonia Artishenko of South River; and two grandchildren. A service was held at St. Euproshynia Belarusian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Thomas Borysewicz Mr. Borysewicz, 73, of South Amboy, formerly of South River, died May 23, 2007, in Willow Creek Care Center, Somerset section of Franklin. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a gummer machine operator at Peter Schwitzer, Spotswood, where he worked for 10 years. Surviving are his wife, Zofia Tycner Borysewicz; two daughters, Kathy Collazo, and her husband, John, of South River, and Dianna Borysewicz of Somerset; a brother, Frank; a brother-in-law, Al Nowakowski; two sisters-in-law, Marge and Irene Borysewicz; three granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Theodore Georgalas Mr. Georgalas, 82, of Old Bridge, died May 23, 2007, in Regency Heritage Nursing Home, Somerset section of Franklin. Surviving are his wife, Ailene Coles Georgalas; two daughters, Ailene Fusco, and her husband, Michael Schwartzer, of East Brunswick, and Linda Smith of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; a son, Theodore D. Georgalas, and his wife, Rhoda, of Mahopac, N.Y.; two sisters, Carol Pendleton of Merrick, N.Y., and Florence Lake of Oakland; a brother, Franklin Georgalas; and 12 grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. Edward H. Langfeld Mr. Langfeld, 87, of South River, died May 27, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are his wife, Loretta Langfeld; three sons, Kenneth Langfeld, and his wife, Arlene, of Spotswood, Robert Langfeld, and his wife, Mary, of South River, and Leonard Langfeld, and his wife, Adriene, of East Windsor; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Fred Chorpita Sr.
Mr. Chorpita, 94, of South River, died May 22, 2007, at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a carpenter and then as a foreman at National Lead Industries, Sayreville, where he worked for 35 years. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lois. Surviving are his wife, Theresa Riepl Chorpita; a son, Fred Chorpita Jr.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin section of Sayreville.
