Food drive a success due to community

As you know, Saturday, May 12, was the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

The staff of the Deacons Food Cupboard of the Jamesburg Presbyterian Church would like to thank all of the folks who helped with checking expiration dates and sorting, packing and carrying food all afternoon. The weather was wonderful (an important factor, since we were working in the parking lot), and it was, as always, a very uplifting experience working with friends and strangers alike in this community event.

None of this would have been possible without the generous donations from our community and the tireless efforts of the letter carriers and those who helped to organize this event. Our thanks go out to all of them.

I also understand that some folks had missed this opportunity to give to their local food cupboard. In any town, people interested in donating may contact their local post office. In the Jamesburg area, nonperishable food items may be brought to the church office at 177 Gatzmer Ave. For more information, please call (732) 521-1711; leave a message and one of the deacons will be happy to return your call.
