Forsgate set to open new sports complex

A junior Olympic-sized swimming pool is at the center of the new sports complex set to open at Forsgate Country Club.
MONROE - Forsgate Country Club will host a grand-opening celebration June 1 to commemorate the opening of its new sports complex.

The day's festivities will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the private club's Board of Advisors, officials from Forsgate Country Club owner RDC Golf Group Inc. (RDC), and local dignitaries, followed by a poolside party for the club's membership.

Forsgate Country Club, which has two 18-hole championship golf courses; casual and fine dining rooms; and banquet facilities that accommodate anywhere from 50-500 guests, received Planning Board approval from the township for its new sports complex and recently completed the improvements.

The centerpiece of the new complex is a junior Olympic-sized pool that is surrounded by a 6,000-square-foot deck with chaise lounges, chairs and cabanas. Also on the pool deck level is a children's pool with interactive waterfalls and a cabana café featuring hot and cold fare as well as a health-conscious menu, according to a press release from RDC Golf Group.

"The pools at our sports complex are a tremendous benefit to member families residing in the local area," said Ted Kohler, the club's director of membership. "We have enrolled over 100 sports members before the doors even opened, and we expect the demand to accelerate now that the facility is operational. With the opening of the sports complex, the club can deliver a great family-friendly experience for area residents that goes far beyond our great golf courses."

The upper level of the complex will feature a state-of-the-art fitness center. Inside the center, members will find high-tech aerobic equipment, including three treadmills, three elliptical trainers, two recumbent bikes, two upright bikes, two stair steppers, one True-Stretch Flexibility Unit, a Paramount Functional Trainer and one Smith Machine. Fitness enthusiasts can shed pounds while watching television on one of the four, 37-inch HD Direct TV monitors with headphones and one 60-inch HD plasma TV.

For those members who would like to incorporate strength training into their exercise regimen, the fitness center will feature dumbbells ranging from 5 to 35 pounds, five Paramount strength machines for arms, legs, abs and back as well as numerous free-standing benches and balance balls. A yoga/Pilates training studio will be located downstairs and personal trainers will be available for private and group sessions.

Men's and women's locker rooms will also be available for the use of sports complex members.

Forsgate's sports complex is open to club members only. The cost for a sports membership is $2,500, which is comprised of a $750 nonrefundable initiation fee and a $1,750 fully refundable membership deposit.

Forsgate also offers permanent golf and social memberships for individuals, families and corporations. For information, call Ted Kohler at (732) 656-8926 or log on to the club's Web site at www.forsgatecc.com.
