Shelter animals should be adopted, not euthanized

The East Brunswick/Spotswood area needs a no-kill animal shelter. Many wonderful, adoptable animals are being euthanized because of the seven-day holding policy. If our shelter was available to the viewing public at least six days a week, including one weekend day, more animals would be adopted. The hours should be posted in the local newspapers and on cable instead of on a small sign on the side of a road not traveled by all residents.

Many animals that have been euthanized would have made loving, adorable pets. Animals that appear to be unsociable became that way due to abuse and neglect. With patience, kindness and trust, they could be very special and loving to the right person or home.

Adopt a shelter pet. I did, and I have been rewarded with the most loving, adorable pets that have enriched my life completely.
