Driver issued summonses after roll-over

EAST BRUNSWICK - A one-car accident Tuesday on Route 18 southbound resulted in fire department personnel having to use extrication tools to free the driver from the wrecked vehicle.

A police investigation determined that 19-year-old Justin Jackson, of Hamilton, was driving at a high rate of speed in the left lane of Route 18 at 11:56 a.m. when he lost control of the 1997 Kia and slid across all three lanes of travel. The vehicle entered the driveway entrance of the Auto Clean Car Wash and struck a curb, a utility pole guy wire, and landscaping owned by the business.

The vehicle then became airborne and, upon landing, rolled one complete time. It came to rest upright.

The driver had to be extricated from the car and was transported to an area hospital with general complaints of pain.

The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to East Brunswick police.

Jackson was issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving and speeding.
