Traffic delays expected at Main, DeVoe

SPOTSWOOD - Residents and motorists are being warned to expect "heavy traffic delays" in the area of Main Street and DeVoe Avenue through the end of this week and early next week.

Construction will be taking place at the intersection from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, tomorrow and Monday, according to borough police. The work will result in a lane closure.

Borough Administrator Ron Fasanello said the work is being performed by Verizon, which is upgrading its network to fiber. Verizon, which maintains a conduit system along the south side of Main Street, will be installing 1,420 feet of new conduit to accommodate the new fiber cables.

The construction was to begin yesterday.

Police asked motorists to plan alternate routes if possible or allow extra time for travel around that intersection.
