The 17th annual Sharp Shooters Basketball Camp will come to South Brunswick from Aug. 13-17 (9 am. to 1 p.m.) at the Crossroads Middle School. Cost is $125 per child. The camp is for boys and girls ages 5-18. Discounts are available for multiple camper signups. Signups at the door are always welcomed. The Sayreville Bomber Golf Outing, sponsored by the football touchdown club and baseball booster club, will be held on Saturday, April 14. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start at the Bunker Hill Golf Course in Princeton. Individual entry fee is $125, with a foursome entry fee of $460 ($115 each; must sign up w/names of four players). Fees includes 18 holes of golf, greens fees and cart, burgers, dogs, beverages at course, dinner w/beer, wine and soda at J. O'Neill's Place, 17 Thomas St., Sayreville, and a voucher for a free weekday round of golf on return trip. There will also be several contests - cash prize for closest to pin, cash prize for longest drive, prizes for best score, pro shop merchandise coupon, raffles and prizes, and a 50/50 raffle.

The Old Bridge Yankees 12U travel baseball team is looking for players to complete its 2007 roster - specifically the positions of pitcher, shortstop and outfield. The O.B. Yankees are fully sponsored and registered with the U.S.A.B.L. for the 2007 spring and summer season. In addition, they will be competing in selected tournaments throughout 2007. East Brunswick kids and families are urged to "Put Play in Your Day" at YMCA Healthy Kids on Saturday, April 14, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Raritan Valley YMCA, 144 Tices Lane in East Brunswick. The Princeton Youth Hockey Association (PYHA) is holding tryouts for the 2007-2008 travel season. The Midget season runs from Aug. 1 through the end of November. Mite through Bantam levels play from early September through mid-March. Registration is open to players whose birth years are between 1989 and 2002. Tryouts will be held April 9-11 at Historic Baker Rink on the Princeton University Campus for Midget Minor (U16) and Midget Major (U18) players. Tryouts will be held April 23-26 at Baker Rink for all Mite through Bantam level players. The league offers first-rate coaches and a competitive program that focuses on player development while promoting team-building skills.

The Central Jersey Vipers, an 18U Old Bridge based girls fastpitch softball travel team, is looking for players for the 2007 softball season. The Vipers had a very successful 2006 season, winning and placing in several tournaments as a 16U team and will be moving up to 18U for the 2007 season. Women golfers are cordially invited to attend the Tamarack Women's 18-Hole Golf Association's opening spring breakfast meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the Seville Diner on Route 18 south, East Brunswick. The meeting will be open to the entire membership including prospective members. If interested in playing 18 holes of golf and having a good time, there is an invite to join the Tamarack Women's 18-Hole Golf Association. They play every Tuesday from April through October. There will be an informal Slowpitch Men's Softball League on Saturday mornings at Field One in Thompson Park, starting April 7. The league is looking for more softball players, men 55 and over, to join in on the fun. East Brunswick/Spotswood Golden Bear Chargers football and cheer will hold registration on March 26 at the East Brunswick Senior Center from 6-8 p.m. GMC is pleased to announce that it now offers flag football.

The East Brunswick Explosion, a U17 girls travel soccer team with the East Brunswick Soccer Club, is looking to add players to the roster for the spring season. The Explosion play in the MNJYSA league and are trained by a professional trainer. They will also attend two or three tournaments. Anyone whose birth date is after Aug. 1, 1989, and is interested in trying out for the team should contact Russ Gale at Russellgale@comcast.net.
