Five vehicles burglarized at Tower Center deck

EAST BRUNSWICK - Five vehicles were reported burglarized at the parking deck at the Tower Center Monday.

The break-ins occurred between 5:25 a.m. and 8:54 p.m. at various levels of the Neilson Plaza commuter deck, located in the Tower Center off Route 18.

Entry to all five vehicles was gained by breaking the driver's-side door locks.

A 2006 Lexus, owned by an East Brunswick resident, was entered and the owner's manual was stolen. A 2006 Infiniti, owned by a resident of Brooklyn, N.Y., was broken into and a pair of sunglasses, valued at $100, was stolen.

Stolen from a 2004 Infiniti owned by a Franklin Park resident was a Bluetooth headset, valued at $100, and a Hewlett Packard digital camera, also valued at $100. A 2004 Infiniti registered to a resident of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick was entered, but nothing was reported missing.

Lastly, a 2006 Infiniti registered to a Kendall Park section of South Brunswick resident was broken into, but nothing was reported missing.

Police had no known suspects earlier this week.

East Brunswick Police Lt. William Krause said he did not wish to speculate on the motive in burglaries where nothing or very little was taken.

"The cases were just assigned, so the investigation is new," he said.

The rash of vehicular break-ins is the second this year at Neilson. On Jan. 10, at least eight motor vehicles were broken into. That afternoon, police were called about two black males in black hooded sweatshirts trying to gain entry to parked vehicles, but responding officers did not see the suspects.
