Obituaries Claire Skinner Mrs. Skinner, 90, of Manalapan, died Jan. 27, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Jersey City and moved to Manalapan 36 years ago. Prior to retiring 24 years ago, she was a jewelry department manager for many years at Two Guys department store in Manalapan. Mrs. Skinner was predeceased in 2003 by her husband, Harry Skinner. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Crandall of Manalapan; a brother, George Homberger of Jamesburg; a sister, Ann MacLachlan of Toms River; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by interment at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
Sophie H. Plaskon Mrs. Plaskon, 81, of South River, died Feb. 3, 2007, in Franklin Convalescent Center. Her husband, Edward J. Plaskon, died in 1987. Surviving are a son, Edward J. Plaskon Jr., and his wife, Lori, of Hillsboro; and three grandchildren, Alison, Christopher and Sean. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.
William Brady Mr. Brady, 81, of Old Bridge, died Jan. 24, 2007, at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a salesman at Dayton Dodge, Dayton section of South Brunswick. His wife, Barbara Beverly Weinbrock Brady, died in 1993. Surviving are three sons, Kevin Brady of North Brunswick, Shawn Brady of Belleplain and Patrick Brady of Spring Lake; and three grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
Edward J. Freiwald Mr. Freiwald, 79, of North Brunswick, died Feb. 1, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in South River, he was a lifelong resident of North Brunswick. He was a mechanic at Personal Products Corporation, Milltown, for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He served with the Special Police Force, North Brunswick, from 1952-63. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 11378, and Adams Athletic Club, both North Brunswick; Loyal Order of Moose New Brunswick Council No. 236; and North Brunswick Pioneers Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline Parillo Freiwald in 2001. He is survived by a daughter, Rose Ann Freiwald of East Brunswick; two sons, Edward Freiwald of Pennsylvania, and Donald Freiwald of North Brunswick; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, North Brunswick. Entombment was at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Arrangements were by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick.
Julius "Juicy" Ulyak Mr. Ulyak, of South River, died Feb. 2, 2007, in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. His wife, Pauline Berzenski Ulyak, died in 2004. Surviving are a daughter, Shelly Ann Ulyak, who lived with him in South River; a sister, Yolanda Zelenkow of South River; a granddaughter, Stefanie Lynn DeStefano of East Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the South River Elks Brain Injured Children's Committee or to any charity that benefits U.S. military veterans. Pasquale "Pat" Anthony DeFalco Mr. DeFalco, 80, of the Madison Park section of Old Bridge, died Jan. 25, 2007, at home. Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Testa DeFalco; his children and their spouses, Gregory and Patti DeFalco and Annette and Bob Winkler, all of the Parlin section of Sayreville, Anne Marie and Bill Oels of Sayreville, Elaine and Donald Mire of Metairie, La., Pat DeFalco and Jenette Saia of Hackettstown; a brother, Sam DeFalco; four sisters, Cecilia DelGaldo, Rose Decaito, Carmella Gamara and Jennie Mancuso; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette's Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Sophie Popowski Golaszewski Mrs. Golaszewski, 90, of Sayreville, died Jan. 27, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy division. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was employed as a seamstress with Charles Komar and Sons, South Amboy, where she worked for 40 years. Her husband, John Golaszewski, died in 1976. Surviving are a daughter, Pearl Kelly, and her husband, Thomas; a brother, John Farkas of South River; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the endowment funds at St. Stanislaus Kostka School or Our Lady of Victories School, both Sayreville.
Magdy Meleka, M.D. Dr. Meleka, 57, of East Brunswick, formerly of Perth Amboy, died Jan. 27, 2007, in Capital Health System, Mercer campus. Surviving are his wife, Manal Meleka; a son, Matthew Meleka, and a daughter, Maureen Meleka of East Brunswick; his mother, Mary Boulos Saleh; a brother, Mounis Meleka; a sister, Mona Habashy Meleka of Egypt; and a cousin. A Mass was offered at St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Tran thi Ngoc Thuy Seelinger Mrs. Seelinger, of San Clemente, Calif., formerly of East Brunswick, died Jan. 29, 2007. Surviving are her husband, John Seelinger; and three children, Kim Thuy Seelinger of San Francisco, Michele Ly Seelinger of Highland Park and John Seelinger of New Brunswick. Scott Michael "Scotty" Thibault Mr. Thibault, 46, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., formerly of East Brunswick, died Jan. 13, 2007, at home. He was predeceased by his father, Robert. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Terry Farver; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Paul and Dunette Thibault, Rob and Lisa Thibault, and Brian Thibault; four nephews and a niece; and many friends and caregivers. Surviving are his wife, Arlette Falck Agolia; a son, Dr. Mark Agolia, and his wife, Mary, of Monroe; a sister, Mary Smolinsky of the Iselin section of Woodbridge; and a nephew. Mollie Difeo Mrs. Difeo, 84, of Old Bridge, died Jan. 30, 2007, in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Surviving are a brother, Fred Constantino of Old Bridge; and two sisters, Dolores Restivo of Cranbury and Ann Gentile of Florida. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
