Jamesburg man charged in stabbing of boro man, 50

JAMESBURG - An altercation between two borough men Monday night resulted in minor stab wounds for one man, charges including aggravated assault for the other.

Police were called to the scene outside Dominoe's Pizza, East Railroad Avenue, around 9 p.m. Monday night on the report of a fight taking place. Upon arrival, officers found the apparent victim, Enloe Simms, 50, of Jamesburg, attempting to leave the area in his truck. One of the tires on the truck had been slashed.

Police stopped Simms and while speaking with him, found he had two stab wounds on his left chest area. The wounds appeared to be superficial and not life-threatening. The man was hospitalized, but police had not received a report from the hospital.

The suspect, George Lagrone, 49, also of Jamesburg, was arrested near the scene and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. Lagrone was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, on $100,000 bail.

Police believe the fight began when Simms' girlfriend told him that Lagrone had assaulted her. Police are conducting a further investigation of the incident.
