Spotswood man gets DUI after three-car accident

SPOTSWOOD — A borough man was charged with driving under the influence Dec. 10 after he reportedly crashed his vehicle and struck two cars at Old Stage Road and Easton Avenue.

Police said John Williams, 22, failed to stop at the stop sign on Easton Avenue. His vehicle crossed into the intersection and struck another vehicle. Police said Williams then attempted to drive away, but lost control of his vehicle and struck a curb.

This caused Williams to again lose control of the vehicle and cross back over two lanes of traffic. His car then struck a second vehicle, which in turn went over the curb and struck a tree head-on.

Police responding to the accident scene charged Williams with DUI, DUI in a school zone, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

Both Williams and a driver of one of the other involved vehicles were hospitalized after the accident for injuries.
