Web site strives to offer environmental info

Recently the East Brunswick Environmen-tal Commission Web site, www.njnaturenotes.com, received the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) 2006 Environmental Achievement Award.

We proudly add this to previously received awards for (among other things) our Salamander Crossing Project and the Butterfly Park. We are so pleased to be able to help residents throughout the region to learn about and participate in important environmental work and education. This Web site has been the stage on which we can let you know about important events and the latest developments in nature, science and the environment. Such education and awareness helps develop a deeper appreciation of the world around us and a stronger desire to protect it.

Thank you all for coming back to naturenotes.com over and over again and for subscribing to our growing e-mail list. You are what makes this site a success, and we hope to be able to give you even more relevant, timely and interesting information in the future.

As mentioned on the Web site, a major article about St. John and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands (with many photos) will be up within a few days. It just takes a bit of time to edit, fine-tune and sort through more than 450 photos, but it's worth it.

Since my return from vacation, the Web site has been updated numerous times, and we've added many new things for you to read. Please let us know of anything you feel should be on the Web site, or of any new sightings. And, please let others, especially students, know about us.

Please feel free to contact us for more information via e-mail or at (732) 613-1589.
