Vera Chigirovich

Mrs. Chigirovich, 91, of Spotswood, formerly of Monroe, died Nov. 9, 2006, in Cranbury Center. Her husband, Ivan Chigirovich, died in 1990. Surviving are a son, Serge of Effort, Pa.; two daughters, Sonia Bychkowski and Olga McCoy, both of Wake Forrest, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Genevieve Kreseski Matts

Mrs. Matts, 82, of South River, died Nov. 8, 2006, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1986, she was a seamstress with Brodsky and Sons, South River, where she worked for 10 years. Surviving are a son, Charles Matts Jr. of South River; two daughters, Karen Meyer of Helmetta and Marylou Matts of South River; and four grandsons. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 12 Roszel Road, Princeton NJ 08540.

Elizabeth Kertesz Peters

Mrs. Peters, 91, of Manahawkin, formerly of South River, died Nov. 7, 2006, in Genesis Health Care, Manahawkin. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress with M&M Sportswear, South River. Her husband, Frank Peters, died in 1957. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Robert Korygoski, with whom she lived; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.

Evelyn Chirco

Mrs. Chirco, 82, of East Brunswick, died Nov. 4, 2006, in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to her retirement, she was a special-education instructional aide at East Brunswick High School, where she worked for 10 years. Her husband, Victor Chirco, died in 1993. Surviving are three sons, George Chirco and J.T. Chirco, both of North Brunswick, and Jan Elliot Chirco of Glen Ridge; two daughters, Robin Lee Loker of Albuquerque, N.M., and Vicki Elena Chirco of East Brunswick; and six grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on Dec. 16 at the Unitarian Society of East Brunswick, 176 Tices Lane. Memorial contributions may be made to World Vision and/or to Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center.

Catherine Marie Weissman

Mrs. Weissman, 85, of Monroe, died Nov. 3, 2006, in Victoria House, Matawan. Her husband, Joseph Weissman, died in 1970. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Terzano of Old Bridge; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Canarsie Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Carl A. Takacs

Mr. Takacs, 81, of South River, died Nov. 9, 2006, at home. Surviving are his wife, Sally Szaber Takacs; a son, Carl C. Takacs of South River; a daughter, Cindy Takacs of East Windsor; his caregiver, Halina Chomiczewska; and three nephews and two nieces. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central New Jersey Hospice, 141 Bodman Place, Red Bank, NJ 07701-9978.

Vester Taylor

Mr. Taylor, 74, of Freehold Township, died Nov. 5, 2006, in CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was a member of Laborers International Union of North America, Local No. 594, East Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Jessie R. Mapp Taylor; four sons, James Ballard, Johnny Taylor, Victor Ballard and Kenneth Lester; four daughters, Ruth Billingsley, Jeaneather Taylor, Odessa Taylor and Janet Ballard Eddings; two brothers, Phillip Taylor and English Taylor Jr.; four sisters, Bernice Unthink, Dorothy Thompson, Maggie Mae Henderson and Betty Neal; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Good News Sound of Pentecost Church, Newark. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

William M. Klimowicz

Mr. Klimowicz, 86, of Monroe, formerly of South Brunswick, died Oct. 31, 2006, in Francis E. Parker Nursing Home, Piscataway. He was a maintenance supervisor for the South Brunswick Board of Education from 1960-1985. Prior to that, he was a self-employed carpenter in South Brunswick. His wife, Helen Adamski, died in 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Hagerty of Monroe and Kathryn Hartman of Lenoir, N.C.; a son, William Klimowicz of South Brunswick; a sister, Helen Nerbak of Bayonne; seven grandsons; and three great-grandsons. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to Paralyzed American Veterans, c/o United Spinal Association, 75-20 Astoria Blvd., Jackson Heights, NY 11370; or to the Monroe Township First Aid Squad, Municipal Plaza, Monroe Township NJ 08831.
