Lawrence "Larry" Samuel Sr.

Mr. Samuel, 60, of South River, died Sept. 28 at home. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley A. Samuel. Surviving are his wife, Gail Samuel; five sons, Michael of Spotswood, Lawrence Jr. of the Fords section of Woodbridge, Will of Keyport, and Christopher and Steven, both of South River; his mother, Pearl Samuel of South River; a sister, Patricia Toreki of Barnegat; a brother, Stanley P. Samuel of Oakland, Calif.; and four grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Barbara A. Weis

Mrs. Weis, 66, of Edison, formerly of Spotswood, died Sept. 26 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a telemarketer with CDI, Parlin section of Sayreville, where she worked for three years. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Victoria Jagielski. Surviving are a daughter, Kim Zych of Sayreville; two sons, Richard Weis of Edison and James Weis of South Amboy; a brother, Martin Jagielski of Carteret; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Cremation was private.

Richard A. Rysinski Mazzeo

Mr. Mazzeo, 20, of Spotswood, died Sept. 30 following injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Jacksonville, N.C. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in North Brunswick, and Toms River, prior to moving to Spotswood four years ago. He was a 2004 graduate of Spotswood High School, and entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 2005, and was a Private stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is survived by his father and his fiancee, Richard E. Rysinski and his fiancee Catherine Dudas of Spotswood; his mother and her husband, Catherine and Fred Noshfar of Toms River; two brothers, Thomas and William Mazzeo of Toms River; two sisters, Emily Rysinski of Forked River, and Kelly Noshfar of Tennessee; his paternal grandparents, Richard A. and Patricia Rysinski of Morgan; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Carmella Mazzeo of Toms River; and several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be Oct. 5 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. A funeral service will be Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Rose M. Viola

Mrs. Viola, 62, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died Sept. 26 at home. A son, Thomas J. Viola, died in 2002. Surviving are her husband, Thomas A. Viola; a son, Anthony Viola of Parlin; a sister, Anna Conk of Long Island, N.Y.; and two brothers, Salvatore and John Leone, both of Brooklyn, N.Y. A Mass was offered at St. Bernadette's Church, Parlin section of Old Bridge. Entombment was in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.

Michael Gavigan

Mr. Gavigan, 37, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Spotswood, died recently at home. Surviving are his parents, Frank and Maureen Devane Gavigan of Spotswood; two brothers, Peter of Hampton and Frank of the Sewell section of Mantua; and two sisters, Ellen Ann Greene and Catherine Paskitti, both of Old Bridge. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2250 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

Elaine Sobocinski Korn

Mrs. Korn, 59, of Spotswood, formerly of South Amboy, died Sept. 25 in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her first husband, Andrew Sobocinski, died in 1998. Surviving are her mother, Marie Pesek of Texas; her husband, Wendel Korn; a son, Andrew Sobocinski Jr. of Spotswood; a daughter, Adrianne Sobocinski of Howell; two brothers, Arthur Newton of Pennsylvania and Raymond Sobocinski of the Pomona section of Galloway; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Helen Lewandowski-Hoffman

Mrs. Hoffman, 57, of Old Bridge, died Sept. 28 at home. She was predeceased by her father, Michael Hoffman, in 1988. Surviving is her mother, Irene Hoffman, with whom she lived. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.

Lillian Alice Cobb

Mrs. Cobb, 71, of Manchester, formerly of East Brunswick, died Sept. 28 in Van Dyke Hospice, Community Medical Center, Toms River section of Dover. Surviving are her former husband, Leonard of Manalpan; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven of Edison, Scott and Caprice of Freehold and Douglas of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Henry Carlsen of Montvale; and five grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. Interment was private.

Joseph Sabba Sr.

Mr. Sabba, 100, of Berkeley Heights, formerly of Old Bridge and Manalapan, died Sept. 30 in Berkeley Meadows Care Center, Berkeley Heights. His wife, Mary Sabba, died in 1983. Surviving are a son, Joseph M. Sabba Jr. of South Carolina; a daughter, Edith Candelmo of Clark; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Entombment was in Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum, North Brunswick. Arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

Margaret E. "Helen" Humphreys Smith

Mrs. Smith, 88, of Sayreville, formerly of South Amboy, died Sept. 16 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Her husband, Herman J. Smith, died in 1973. Surviving are a son, James D. "J.D." Smith, and his wife, Judy, of South Amboy; a brother, William J. Humphreys of York, Pa.; a sister, Mary P. Humphreys of South Amboy; a brother-in-law, Alexander Davidson of Monroe; a grandson; and a cousin, several nieces and several nephews. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sayreville Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 9, Sayreville, NJ 08872.

Andrew Terhune

Mr. Terhune, 60, of Jamesburg, died Oct. 3 in Veterans Administration Hospital, Lyons section of Bernards. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew Terhune and Florence May Betzel Terhune. Surviving are two brothers, William Terhune of Englishtown and Michael Terhune of Florida; a sister, Florence Mount of East Brunswick; and two nephews and two nieces. Visitation is set for 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Services are planned for 10 a.m. on Oct. 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.
