Obituaries

William Galik

Mr. Galik, 81, of Monroe, formerly of North Brunswick, died June 27 at home. He was a captain and troop commander with the New Jersey State Police for 30 years, retiring in 1977. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Meltzer Galik; three sons, William Galik of Plymouth, Minn., Robert Galik of Columbus and Jeffrey Galik of East Amwell; three sisters, Mary Chando of Washington, Kay Mastey of Fort Myers, Fla., and Elsie Carothers of Edmond, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Franklin. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York NY 10163.

Michael Blazas

Mr. Blazas, 31, of East Brunswick, formerly of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died July 8 at home. A police officer for the borough of Sayreville for the past three years, he was a member of Sayreville Policemen's Benevolent Association No. 98. Prior to becoming a police officer, he was employed for eight years at C/C Gulf, Fords section of Woodbridge. He then was a self-employed landscaper, co-owning K&B Landscaping, Parlin, for three years. He later sold the business, now known as Lawn Enforcement, to his brother, Jason. Surviving are his wife, Dawn Nappi Blazas; his parents, Charles "Chip" and Sharon Nagy Blazas of Parlin; a brother, Jason of Parlin; his maternal grandmother, Olga Nagy of Fords; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Services are planned for 11 a.m. on July 13 at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin. Interment will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge.

Odette A. Chkaiban Ferris

Mrs. Ferris, 82, of North Brunswick, died July 9 at Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, she resided in New Brunswick, prior to moving to North Brunswick in 1955. She was a seamstress at Bond Clothing Company, New Brunswick, and a line worker at Bristol-Myers Squibb, New Brunswick. She was a communicant of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, Somerset section of Franklin Township, and St. Mary of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Ferris in 2005; three brothers; and a sister. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Bernard Brustowicz of East Brunswick; a son, Edward of North Brunswick; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be July 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Sharbel Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements are by Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2600 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.

Charles Spezzi

Mr. Spezzi, 85, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died July 3 at home. He was the owner of Spezzi's Restaurant, Parlin, from 1959 to 1996. Following his retirement, he was a driver and attendant with Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, Parlin, Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville, and Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River, until 2001. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Janas Spezzi; a son and daughter-in-law, Carmen F. and Christine Spezzi; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna and Michael S. Mauro Sr., and Darlene Spezzi; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund, c/o Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy, NJ 08879.

Walter Kasunic

Mr. Kasunic of Stewart, Fla., and formerly East Brunswick, died July 4 at Treasure Coast Hospices, Stewart. He had resided in East Brunswick before moving to Florida 15 years ago. Mr. Kasunic is survived by his wife, Claire Kooman Kasunic; three sons, Roger Kasunic of White Plains, N.Y., Keith Kasunic of Boulder, Colo., and Kevin Kasunic of East Brunswick; two daughters, Gail Holy of Asbury Park and Joyce Rau of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and five grandchildren. Burial took place at Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack, under the direction of the Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

Lucille A. Miller

Mrs. Miller, 57, of Jackson, formerly of East Brunswick and Monroe, died July 2 at home. She had been employed by AT&T, East Brunswick, as a district manager, and had also owned and operated Classic Cleaners in Marlboro. She was predeceased by her father, Philip Lisa. Surviving are her husband, Gary Miller; two sons, Gregory T. Tanner and Eric P. Tanner, both of Freehold; a daughter, Marisa Fennimore of Freehold; her mother, Caroline Lisa of Jackson; a brother, Philip Lisa of Jackson; a sister, Annie Alexis of Freehold; and five grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, Jackson. Entombment was in St. Gabriel's Cemetery Mausoleum, Marlboro. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002.

Elsie Althoff Jones

Mrs. Jones, 95, of East Brunswick, died July 3 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Jones, in 1994; a brother, Fred Althoff; and a sister, Helen Wheeler. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Geraldine Jones of Manalapan; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Ron Anderson of East Brunswick; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick, under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick.

Erna Feuchtwanger

Mrs. Feuchtwanger, 96, of Freehold, died June 28 at Bartley Manor, Jackson. She was born in Darmstadt, Germany, and had lived in Freehold for many years. Mrs. Feuchtwanger was employed at the Washington Forge Co., Englishtown before her retirement. She was a member of Temple Beth Shalom, Manalapan, and the Deborah Auxiliary. She was the widow of Arthur Feuchtwanger, who died in 1964. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Betty June Feuchtwanger of Monroe; a grandson; a niece; and a grandniece. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Englishtown.

Florence Grace DiSalvo

Mrs. DiSalvo, 74, of Old Bridge, died June 16 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she was employed as a family daycare provider in Old Bridge. Her husband, Michael, died in 1989. Surviving are a son, Michael of East Dover Township; three daughters, Roseann Thompson of the Cliffwood Beach section of Old Bridge, Trish Palehonki of Old Bridge and Maria Puopolo of Jackson; a brother, Vincent Passarelli of Freehold; a sister, Yvonne Cusanelli of Jackson; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38173-0704.

Glynn R. Ward

Mr. Ward, 82, of Spotswood, died June 27 at home. He was employed at Ford Motor Co., Edison, for 34 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Ward was a former member of the Spotswood Board of Education and was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 35. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Meggison Ward; a son and daughter-in-law, Glynn and Loraine Ward of South Amboy; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Virginia Ward and Edward Linzer of Spotswood, Janis and Kevin Becker of South Amboy, Joyce Haslach of Sayreville, and Christine and Tony Giunta and Lisaann Ward, all of Freehold; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Robin Weinberg

Ms. Weinberg, 54, of Old Bridge, died July 4 at home. Surviving are a brother, Lance Weinberg of Oregon; and her mother, Melba Weinberg, and her mother's husband, Robert Conroy, of Old Bridge. A funeral service was held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, N.Y.
