The Central Jersey Lightning U12 Fastpitch girls travel softball team continued its success with capturing first place in the Edison Angels Shootout PONY Nationals Qualifier last Sunday. Outstanding pitching and tremendous defensive plays held their stunned opponents to only two runs over a five-game, one-day tournament. Offensively, the team racked up 25 runs against their opponents with their red-hot bats. CJL's current record is 19-6, and earlier last month they earned their bid for the 2006 PONY National Tournament to be held in Vienna, Ohio, during July.

CJL's solid pitching is maintained by Jill Blaine, Eve Clausen, Shannon Costello, Deborah Dewitt, Lauren Pensavalle and Lauren Shea. These girls give the Lightning pitching depth that is talented and determined. Backing the pitching is a solid defense that has been the talk of opposing coaches throughout this tournament season. The gold gloves are flashed by Kelly Inglhofer, Alex Krantz, Vicky McFarland, Sam Mattsson, Kris Mazzarisi, Jackie O'Connor, Dallas Ostin and Kelsey Schuster. CJL is managed by Bob Inglhofer, and assisted by coaches Tom Blaine, Steve Costello, Dan Ostin, Helen Pensavalle and Dave Schuster. Bullpen is instructed by Melissa Marotta, batting is coached by Roy Kortmann and special instruction handled by Pat Cleary.

The girls and other Tiger Schulmann's students will be participating in a Karate Demo at the North Brunswick Fair June 16 and 17.
