June 8-10

+ Book Sale, sponsored by the Spotswood Public Library, during regular hours, at the library, 548 Main St. Hardcover books, paperbacks, children's books, audiocassettes, videocassettes. Paperbacks sell for 50 cents each or three for $1, hardcovers for 75 cents and up, videocassettes for $1. "All-You-Can-Carry-for-$5 Sale," June 9, 10. All sales final. + Collection to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, sponsored by the J.C. Penney Salon at Brunswick Square Mall, Route 18, East Brunswick. For every dollar contributed, the salon will enter the donor's into a drawing to win a spa pedicure and spa manicure. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. + Church Indoor Rummage Sale, sponsored by Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the white house next to the church, 568 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick. + Cruise Nights/Car Shows, to benefit the Sayreville Brain Injured Children Association, sponsored by the Just Us Cruisers classic car club, 6-9 p.m., at the Paramount Diner, Route 35, South Amboy/Sayreville. Family-oriented events featuring more than 50 antique and classic cars from across the tri-state area. Trophies; games; music from the '50s, '60s, '70s. + Car Wash, sponsored by the East Brunswick High School Cheerleading Booster Club, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Irwin Elementary School, 71 Racetrack Road, East Brunswick. Rain date: June 11. Cost is $5 for cars, $7 for sport utility vehicles (SUVs), trucks.

+ Alex's Lemonade Stand, to benefit pediatric cancer research, sponsored by 9-year-old Michele Katora of East Brunswick, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 2 Biernacki Court, East Brunswick, corner of Old Stage Road, across from Spotswood ShopRite. All proceeds go to the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. Cold lemonade, bottled water, iced coffee, cookies. Receipts will be provided for tax-deductible cash donations. Cost is $5 per car. All proceeds benefit the Heifer Project, dedicated to ending hunger and poverty worldwide.

June 10-15

+ Books and More Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Old Bridge Public Library, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 10, 12:30-5 p.m. on June 11, 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 12, 13, 14 and 15, at the Old Bridge Main Library, Route 516 and Cottrell Road. June 15 is the "Bag Day" for sale remainders. Books (hardcover and paperback), magazines, CDs, DVDs, tapes. Material for children and adults available.
