Team supports writer’s effort to raise donations

The editorial team at Greater Media Newspapers is endorsing a staff writer’s effort to raise money for charity by taking part in the 100-mile “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride,” to be held in Lake Tahoe, Nev., on June 4. A monumental ride in distance alone, this one is particularly special because of its support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

John Dunphy is presently collecting donations for the charity, with the goal of raising $4,400, and he is asking for the help of anyone interested. Donations are 100 percent tax deductible, and 75 percent of each donation goes directly to finding cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma — blood cancers that killed 55,100 Americans in 2004, according to the society.
