James Edward Cotter

Mr. Cotter, 62, of Matawan, formerly of the Sewaren section of Woodbridge and Middletown, died Dec. 25 in Beth Israel Hospital, Newark. His father, James Edward Sr., died in 1965. Surviving are his wife, Jane Ciccui Cotter; a daughter, Kelly-Jane of South River; two sons, James Armand and Domenic James, both of Montclair; his mother, Bertha Langley of Manassas Park, Va.; two sisters, Melody of Manassas Park and Nancy Tyrrell of Gainesville, Va.; a son-in-law, Stacy E. Bruden II of South River; two daughters-in-law, Mary Sok and Catherine, both of Montclair; and a granddaughter, Audrey Cotter Bruden. Arrangements were under the direction of Caggiano Funeral Home, Montclair. Interment was in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, P.O. Eileen O’Neil Haggerty

Mrs. Haggerty, 79, of Monroe, formerly of South River, died Jan. 28 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Robert Haggerty, died in 1969. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Lillesville, N.C., and Dennis of South River; two daughters, Linda Price of Monroe and Lorrie Ritter of Burlington; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, P.O. John A. Bittay

Mr. Bittay, 80, of East Brunswick, died Jan. 29 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Calantoni Bittay; a son, John Bittay of San Jose, Calif.; four daughters, Diane Filep of Peoria, Ariz., Cathy Torok of East Brunswick, Cyndi Taylor of Spotswood and Joanne Mezger of Point Pleasant; a brother, Ted Bittay of Tempe, Ariz.; a sister, Elma Bittay of South Brunswick; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick. Rose Fabyian Orsag

Mrs. Orsag, 91, of South River, died Jan. 26 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Steve Orsag, died in 1984. Surviving are a daughter, Rose McAtee of Bradley Beach; a sister, Helen Grygo of South River; a brother, John Fabyian of North Brunswick; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Birdye Schiff Baume

Mrs. Baume, 78, of East Brunswick, died Jan. 30 at home. Her husband, Nathan Baume, died in 1996. Surviving are a son, Hal of East Brunswick; a daughter, Cindy Mandell of East Brunswick; and a grandson, Michael Schauber. Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Interment was in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.

Daniel F. Buckley

Mr. Buckley, 72, of South River, died Jan. 30 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Ann Waraksa; two sons, Dr. David Buckley of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and Daniel A. Buckley of Columbia, Md.; and four grandchildren. Visitation is set for 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 3 at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on Feb. 4 at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River.
