Fund-raisers

Jan. 26

• Used Inkjet and Laser Computer Cartridge Collection, sponsored by the Spotswood High School Band. Drop-off boxes located at all Spotswood schools; Spotswood Public Library, Spotswood Post Office and Kearny Bank, all Main Street; KrisKell Creations Hair Salon, Summerhill Road. • “Hometown Savings 2006” Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Spotswood Public Library, 548 Main St. Books contain discount coupons from local supermarkets, fast-food chains, restaurants. All coupons expire at the end of 2006. Cost is $18. Proceeds benefit the Friends and will be used to support library programs and services. To order, call the library at (732) 251-1515. Books also on sale at the library during regular hours.

Jan. 27

• Casino Night, sponsored by the Old Bridge Education Foundation, 7:30-11:30 p.m., at Sunny Palace, Route 18, East Brunswick. Tickets cost $30 each, $50 per couple; includes $25 in chips per person. Call Art Freihon at (732) 360-4556.

Jan. 28

• “A Night of Comedy,” starring Mike Muzikar’s Comedy Revue, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Old Bridge, 7-11 p.m., at the Old Bridge Elks lodge, 67 Old Amboy Road. Hot-and-cold buffet dinner. • Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., during a roadside celebration at Liberty Tax Service, 723 Route 18 at Racetrack Road, East Brunswick. Donations of used cell phones are sought. Phones will be exchanged for phone cards for overseas military personnel to use when calling loved ones at home. (732) 390-5576.

• Afternoon at the Casino, sponsored by Cardinal McCarrick High School, doors open at 3 p.m., event is set for 4-7 p.m., in the school cafeteria, Stevens Avenue, South Amboy. Cost is $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door; includes voucher for $25 in playing chips, hors d’oeuvres, coffee, dessert, door-prize entry.
