Dec. 1-3

• Collection for Soldiers Fighting Overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, sponsored by Keith Price, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 33, Milltown. Collection bin is in Milltown Borough Hall, 39 Washington Ave. Items sought: suntan lotion; bug spray; lip balm; feminine products; ear swabs; laundry detergent; bug wipes/bug strips; wipes (travel size); razors; toilet paper; eye drops; spices; tea bags; coffee; small drink mixes; socks; clothesline/pins; snack food; cereal/protein bars; fleece blan-kets; microwaveable foods (canned or boxed); hard candy/gum; writing ma-terials; batteries (any size); calling cards; packets of hot chocolate. Contributions must be in original packaging. Keith is working to achieve Eagle Scout rank by collecting items to be sent overseas through Operation Shoebox New Jersey 2005.

Dec. 1-4

• Holiday Grave Blanket Sale, sponsored by St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, South River. Cost is $20 for a 36-inch blanket decorated with pine cones, poinsettias, bow. • Toys for Tots Collection, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR), next to the Santa Claus display at Menlo Park Mall, Edison. New, unwrapped toys accepted. Dec. 2

• Juggling Suns Benefit Concert, to raise funds to send holiday gifts to U.S. troops in Iraq, sponsored by Lyons-Schepsco Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1451, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the post home, 31 Reid St., South River. Care packages for soldiers in Iraq and donations for local food bank will be collected. Cash bar. Individuals under age 21 will not be admitted. Admission: $10; includes snacks, first beverage. Tickets available weekdays 9 a.m. to noon (until sold out) at the INC office, 62 S. Main St., next to St. Paul’s Parish office. Seating limited. • KinderKlassics Book Fair, in honor of Jewish Book Month, sponsored by the Etz Chaim Parents Association, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 4, 4-6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5, 6, 12 and 13, at Etz Chaim Monroe Township Jewish Center, 11 Cornell Ave., and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Monroe Township Community Center, Monmouth Road.
