On Campus Adam Eric Rothman, son of Ilene and Philip Rothman of East Brunswick, has been awarded a bachelor of arts degree, magna cum laude, from Princeton University, where he majored in chemistry. The recipient of departmental high honors in chemistry with a certificate from the Princeton Institute for Science and Technology of Materials, he also was selected for membership in Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, and received the Hypercube Award in Chemistry. In addition to his studies at Princeton, Adam served as conference director for the 2005 National High School Model United Nations in New York City. In the fall, he will begin a doctoral program in physical chemistry at the University of Chicago, where he was awarded the Freud Fellowship. He is a 2001 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
Megan Elisabeth Sassaman, daughter of Sandra and Harry Sassaman of South River, has been awarded a bachelor’s degree in sports administration, with high honors, from New York University, New York City, where she was a Founders Day Scholar. In the fall she will attend Seton Hall University School of Law, Newark, as a Chancellor’s Scholar Award recipient.
Douglas Callan of Monroe was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Bryant University, Smithfield, R.I., where he recently completed his junior year majoring in business administration with a concentration in financial services and a minor in legal studies. Joshua Lax of East Brunswick was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, where he is a senior majoring in history and magazine journalism.
Jessica Balmuth, Boris Gorsh, Carla Pedreiro and Lisa Rudolph, all of East Brunswick, were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston.
Tracy Jones of South River was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, where she is a freshman majoring in international relations.
Jennifer O’Connell of Jamesburg recently graduated magna cum laude from Catawba College, Salisbury, N.C., where she earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics with a minor in accounting. She was a member of the college’s honors program, the Alpha Chi national academic honor society and the Phi Epsilon honorary scholastic society. A 2001 graduate of Monroe Township High School, she is attending graduate school at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in accounting.
Sharon Kwiatkowski, daughter of Donna and Dennis Kwiatkowski of East Brunswick, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Kean University, Union, where she is a sophomore majoring in education and history. She is a 2003 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
Jocelyn Jinks, daughter of Jeannine and Michael Jinks of East Brunswick, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at New York University, New York City, where she is a freshman. She is a 2004 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
Navy Ensign Brant N. DeBoer, son of Deborah and Roy DeBoer of Monroe, recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank in the U.S. Navy. DeBoer successfully completed four years of academic, physical and professional training, resulting in a bachelor of science degree with a major in English. He is a 2001 graduate of Monroe Township High School.
Desiree Macaro, daughter of Charlye and Joseph Macaro of Milltown, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, where she will be a junior in the fall. A member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, she is majoring in family and child studies with a concentration in early/middle childhood education. She is a 2003 graduate of Spotswood High School.
Kimberly Kancylarz of East Brunswick was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, Pa., where she is a freshman majoring in zoo science. She is a 2004 graduate of East Brunswick High School.
William Leef of East Brunswick was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Syracuse (N.Y.) University College of Visual and Performing Arts, where he is a junior majoring in communication and rhetorical studies.
