Robert A. Glassen

Mr. Glassen, 70, of North Brunswick and Tuckerton, died June 14 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Orange, he had resided in Piscataway and Elizabeth before moving to North Brunswick in 1962. Mr. Glassen was a forklift mechanic at American Can Co., Hillside, for 37 years, retiring in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gladys Osborne Glassen; a daughter, Christine Koch of South Amboy; four sons, Robert Glassen of East Brunswick, Richard Glassen of North Brunswick, Gregory Glassen of Hamilton, and Scott Glassen of Somerset; two sisters, Catherine Dolch of New Gretna and Elizabeth Abadella of North Brunswick; a brother, Richard Glassen of St. Simons Island, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren. Visitation will be held June 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Selover Funeral Home in North Brunswick. A funeral service will be held June 17 at 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Milltown. Interment will be at Elm Ridge Cemetery, North Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fund, 333 Lancaster Ave., No. 414, Wynnewood, PA 19096.

James W. “Bill” Appleby

Mr. Appleby, 68, of Monroe, formerly of South River, died June 2 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen Ochs Appleby; a son, James William Appleby II of Fallsington, Pa.; two daughters, Cathy Heuser of Jackson and Bess Servon of South River; four brothers. J.R. and Richard of the Toms River section of Dover and John and Donald of Seaside Park; a sister, Katherine Blonsky of Monroe; and seven grandchildren. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Morton Kantor

Mr. Kantor, 82, of Monroe, died June 11 at home. His wife, Lillian Dermer Kantor, died in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Mark of Montville and Keith of Georgia; a sister, Josephine Kantor of the Bronx, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Interment was in New Mount Carmel Cemetery, Glendale, N.Y. Anna Richter

Mrs. Richter, 95, of Helmetta, died June 10 at her son’s residence in Helmetta. Her husband, Edward Richter, died in 1947. Surviving are a son, Edward Richter of Helmetta; two brothers, Sam Duritzo of Long Island, N.Y., and Paul Blasko of Hawk Run, Pa.; two sisters, Sue Demko and Marge Adversa; two grandsons, Edward Richter of East Brunswick and Ernest Richter of Spotswood; and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at St. John the Baptist Church, Hawk Run. Interment was in the church cemetery. Local arrangements were under the direction of Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.

Christine Kennedy Siarniak

Mrs. Siarniak, 38, of East Brunswick, died June 12 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her mother, Frances Kennedy, died in 1990. Surviving are her husband, John Siarniak; her father, Thomas Kennedy, and his wife, Ellen, of Spotswood; three brothers, Daniel Kennedy of East Brunswick, Thomas Kennedy of South River and James Kennedy of Jamesburg; and two stepbrothers, Duane of Monroe and Todd of Spotswood. A Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. on June 16 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Peter Silowka

Mr. Silowka, 82, of South River, died June 6 in Cranbury Rehabilitation Center, Monroe. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed as a supervisor with Algrow Knitting Mills, Milltown, where he worked for 40 years. His wife, Margaret Uram Silowka, died in 1993. Surviving are two sons, Peter W. Silowka of Robbinsville section of Washington Township and Walter Silowka of Allentown, Pa.; a daughter, Dolores Aniunas of Belair, Md.; a sister, Olga Bohnyak of Randolph, Vt.; and six grandchildren. A service was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 153 Kamm Ave., South River, NJJ 08882.

Woodrow W. Kolling

Mr. Kolling, 87, of Monroe, died June 6 at his daughter’s home in Monroe. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Ann Kuchar, and by two sons, Charles and Woodrow Jr. Surviving are a daughter, Helen J. Dimitrakopoulos of Monroe; a son, Richard of Eatontown; a sister, Violet Maimone of Florida; a granddaughter, Heather Roque of Woodbridge; and a great-granddaughter. Arrangements were under the direction of Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River.

Antoinette M. D’Allessandro Bigos

Mrs. Bigos, 74, of East Brunswick, died May 25 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter Bigos; a son, Robert Bigos of East Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Richard Halinski of Old Bridge; a brother, Dominic D’Allessandro of Raven Run, Pa.; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Old Bridge, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the East Brunswick Rescue Squad, 346 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick 08816.

Patricia A. Pugh

Miss Pugh, 47, of Sayreville, died May 26 at Madison Center, Old Bridge. She was predeceased by her father, Harold Pugh, in 1999; and a brother, Ronald, in 1985. She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Pugh of Spotswood; and a sister, Evelyn McCloud of Lititz, Pa. A graveside service was held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 287 Handy St., New Brunswick 08901.

Theresa Prukop Acken

Mrs. Acken, 87, of East Brunswick, died June 4 in Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Her husband, Thomas L. Acken, died in 1977. Surviving are a brother, Edmund Prukop of New Brunswick; a sister, Josephine White of Hollis, N.H.; and several nephews. Services were held at Selover Funeral Home, North Brunswick. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, North Brunswick.

Joan Ann Boruta Zampieri

Mrs. Zampieri, 63, of Jamesburg, formerly of East Brunswick, died June 1 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at Pine Brook Manor Nursing Home, Englishtown. Surviving are four children, James Zampieri of Jamesburg, Paul Zampieri of Tampa, Fla., Denise Zampieri of East Brunswick and Linda Zampieri of Old Bridge; three sisters, Barbara Muraszewski and Bernice Scott of Florida and Cordelia S. Duff of Old Bridge, and a twin sister, Janet Menna of the Brick Town section of Brick; a brother, Vincent Boruta Jr. of Florida; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River. Cremation was private.

Agnes Denker Gross

Mrs. Gross, 83, of Old Bridge, died June 8 at home. Surviving are her husband, Gilbert; a daughter, Karen Bennett of East Brunswick; a sister, Clara Braden of the Toms River section of Dover; and two grandchildren, Robert and Cheryl Bennett. A funeral service was held at Simpson United Methodist Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
