Master Gardeners sets Ag Day Plant Sale

Middlesex County Master Gardeners will host its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 30 at Cook College’s Ag Field Day on the campus of Cook College of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, near the Marine Science Building.

The sale will feature dozens of varieties of tomatoes, including the Rutgers tomato and other heirloom varieties; rare herbs; Oritani and other bell peppers; and new and exotic varieties of hot peppers.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the county agricultural agent and members of the Master Gardeners. Fact sheets will be available on topics such as lawn care, garden pests and the proper culture of landscape plants. Many members of the Cook College staff and student body will be on hand to display their projects and club activities.

Middlesex County Master Gardeners is a part of the Middlesex County Office of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. In addition holding plant sales, the Master Gardeners offer lectures to garden clubs, schools, civic organizations and the general public. The volunteers also design and install horticultural displays for the beautification of the annual county fair.
