James Robert Hetherington

Mr. Hetherington, 86, of East Brunswick, formerly of Edison, died April 11 at home. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Ellen Hetherington; a son, James Joseph Hetherington of North Carolina; two daughters, Barbara Jean Pitzner of Jackson and Tracey Ellen Outcalt of the Franklin Park section of Franklin; five grandchildren; and two step-granddaughters. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

Sophie Smorgans Grembowicz

Mrs. Grembowicz, 91, of South River, died April 16 in Roosevelt Care Center, Edison. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cafeteria worker at Corpus Christi School, South River. Her husband, Joseph J. Grembowicz, died in 1999. Surviving are a brother, Walter Smorgans of Indian Lake, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on April 21 at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Frank S. Mazzella

Mr. Mazzella, 84, of the Smithville section of Galloway, formerly of South River, died April 11 at home. Surviving are his wife, Mary Calicchio Mazzella; three daughters, Antoinette Bruno Mecchi of Smithville, and Frances Gargone and Geraldine Hogan, both of Galloway; a sister, Theresa Mazzella of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Corpus Christi Church, South River. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Atlantic City Medical Center Hospice, P.O. Irene H. Mazurek

Mrs. Mazurek, 80, of Spotswood, died April 15 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerset section of Franklin. Her husband, John J. Mazurek, died in 2000. Surviving are two sons, John M. Mazurek of Coral Springs, Fla., and Alan Mazurek of the Mercerville section of Hamilton; two daughters, Donna Obal of Topton, Pa., and Ann Mazurek of Hillsborough; and nine grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Entombment was in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Christian A. Hogan McCaffrey

Mrs. McCaffrey, 83, of East Brunswick, died April 16 at home. She was a registered nurse for many years at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Joseph F. McCaffrey, died in 1999, and a son, Peter, died in 1955. Surviving are five sons, Joseph F. of Skaneateles, N.Y., John of Ithaca, N.Y., Christopher of East Brunswick, Richard of Hopkinton, N.H.. and Robert of Lambertville; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, South River. Interment was in Harbourton Cemetery, Hopewell. Frank Nicastro

Mr. Nicastro, 74, of Spotswood, died April 18 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. A former bus driver for Spotswood Senior Citizens, he served as chairman of the Spotswood Recreation Department for several years. Surviving are his wife, Marie Moramarco Nicastro; two sons, Philip Nicastro of the Toms River section of Dover and Robert Nicastro of South Brunswick; a daughter, Donna DeMato of North Brunswick; a sister, Lorraine Sutera of Spotswood; and eight grandchildren. A Mass is planned for 9 a.m. on April 21 at Holy Trinity Church, Helmetta. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Z. Richard Sackman

Mr. Sackman, 73, of East Brunswick, died April 15 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1999, he was a principal owner for 25 years at Medical Industry Careers, East Brunswick. A daughter, Sheryl Mains, died in 1998. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Feigelson Sackman; three sons, Scott of Easton, Pa., Stuart of East Brunswick and Steven of New York City; and five grandchildren. Services were held at Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Entombment was in Cedar Park Cemetery, Westwood. Muriel Zarychta Sullivan

Mrs. Sullivan, 83, of East Brunswick, died April 18 in The Westfield Center. She was a former substitute teacher in the East Brunswick area. Her husband, Joseph Sullivan, died in 1994. Surviving are a son, Glenn Sullivan of Westfield; a daughter, Judy Cornwell of Nags Head, N.C.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Visitation is set for 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on April 21 at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Services are planned for 11:30 a.m. on April 22 at Conklin United Methodist Church, South River. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan.

Wanda Gardocki Vilkauskas

Mrs. Vilkauskas, 93, of Old Bridge, died April 10 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was a seamstress in South River for 10 years. Her husband, Vincent A. Vilkauskas, died in 1995. Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Edward J. Vilkauskas, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, Detroit, and Vincent J. Vilkauskas of Belfast, Pa.; a sister, Stella Wolkoski of Mount Carmel, Pa.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mount Carmel section of Raritan. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church Building Fund, South River.

James Scully

Mr. Scully, 67, of South Amboy, died March 13 at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Häagen-Dazs Co., Woodbridge. Before that, he worked for National Lead Industries, Sayreville. Surviving are two brothers, William Scully of Sayreville and Richard Scully of Monroe; and three sisters, Lana Kuran of Stockton, Linda Kelly of Manchester and Laura Gillette of Monroe. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy. Interment was in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy.

Christopher J. LaTorre

Mr. LaTorre, 21, of South River, died April 9 at home. He was a 2002 graduate of South River High School, where he played football and baseball for four years. He was a carpenter with Classic Creations, South River, for the past two years. Surviving are his parents, George LaTorre and Mary Pierson; nine sisters and brothers, Mary Jo Sarcone of Old Bridge, George LaTorre of Spotswood, Jennie Goodman of Willingboro, Linda Jackson, James Pierson and Elizabeth Pierson, all of Pittsfield, Mass., Joseph Pierson of Cedar Grove, and Michele Pierson and Nicole LaTorre, both of South River; his maternal grandmother, Catherine LaTorre of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge; three godchildren, Anthony and Rey Torres and Ceaira Pierson; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaTorre family.

Marie Dzielinski Krasnokutsky

Mrs. Krasnokutsky, 72, of Old Bridge, died April 14 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was employed at Brodsky’s Dress Factory, South River, many years ago. Surviving are her husband, Victor; two daughters, Patty Isabelle and Victoria Denn, both of Old Bridge; an aunt, Mildred Kalaskin of South River; a brother, Alfred Dzielinski of South River; and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Sondra R. Luper

Mrs. Luper, 62, of the Parlin section of Old Bridge, died April 7 at home. Her husband, William, died in 1997. Surviving are a son, Louis of Parlin; a daughter, Debra Hultmark of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen; her companion, Woodrow Mobus of Parlin; a brother, Elliott Stolowtiz of East Brunswick; and a grandson, William Christopher. Graveside services were held at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.

Diane Barbara Gimplin Goldman

Mrs. Goldman, 61, of Old Bridge, died April 5 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was a bookkeeper at Iris Software, Metuchen, for five years. Surviving are a son, Craig Goldman of the Morganville section of Marlboro; a daughter, Lorri Mendez of Old Bridge; a brother, Marvin Gimplin of East Moriches, N.Y.; a sister, Faith Davila of Spotswood; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Oceans of Love, 1709 Route 37 East, Toms River, NJ 08753.

Thomas Parkinson

Mr. Parkinson, 68, of South Amboy, formerly of the Morgan section of Sayreville, died March 23 at home. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Hercules Inc., Parlin section of Sayreville. For the past six years, he worked as a school crossing guard for the city of South Amboy. Surviving are a nephew, David Parkinson of Sayreville; a niece, Liz Bell of Arkansas; an aunt, Molly Bihr of Florida; a great-niece and two great-nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.

Alan Pogroszewski

Mr. Pogroszewski, 56, of Sayreville, died March 25 in St. Peter’s University Medical Center, New Brunswick. His mother, Jane Swiderski Pogroszewski, died in 1980. Surviving are his father, Leon Pogroszewski of Sayreville; an uncle and two aunts, Robert and Dorothy Pogroszewski of East Brunswick and Eleanor Chasan of California; and many cousins. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
