Obituaries George M. Sichta Jr. Mr. Sichta, 84, of South River, died Dec. 13 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was a foreman at E.I. DuPont, Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for 40 years. His wife, Mildred Pacyna Sichta, died in 1990. Surviving are a son, George R. Sichta of Sayreville; a brother, John of East Brunswick; and a granddaughter. A Mass was offered at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
Jason D. Kaufman Mr. Kaufman, 24, of Sayreville, died Dec. 10 in Sayreville. Surviving are his parents, Regina and Carl Kaufman, with whom he lived; a daughter, Veronica Jade Kaufman; two brothers, Josh Kaufman of Sayreville and Erik Kaufman of the Parlin section of Sayreville; his maternal grandmother, Marie Floccari of Sayreville; his paternal grandparents, Harriet and Seymour Kaufman of Monroe; and his fiancé, Melissa Modrak of Barnegat. A Mass was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Interment was in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Dorothy (Holmes) Holler Mrs. Holler, 80, of Leisure Village, Manchester, Ocean County, died Dec. 15 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in South River, she had resided in Edison before moving to Manchester eight years ago. She was predeceased in 1992 by her husband, Joseph Holler. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sherry Holler, of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Joseph Masseli, of Connecticut; a sister, Helen Foyle, of East Brunswick; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, followed by burial at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Amalia Mulutzie Mrs. Mulutzie, 73, a former Spanish teacher at Churchill Junior High School in East Brunswick, died Dec. 22 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Mrs. Mulutzie is survived by a daughter, Kathy Jaeger, and two grandchildren. The Crabiel Memorial Funeral Home, Hightstown, is in charge of arrangements. Jennie Lopresti Kennedy Mrs. Kennedy, 79, of Monroe Township, died Dec. 17 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edmund Kennedy; and a brother, Charles Lopresti of New Rochelle, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Spotswood, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Theresa J. Connington Denton Mrs. Denton, 82, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 17 at home. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard O. Denton, in 1999; and a brother, Francis Connington, in 1981. Mrs. Denton is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. and Jennifer Denton of Pasadena, Md.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara Denton of East Brunswick, Patricia and John Vantaggi of Pocono Lakes, Pa., Kathleen and Joseph Zawaski of Howell, and Terri-Lynn Denton of East Brunswick; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Interment was at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. The Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Francisco Medina Mr. Medina, 83, of Sayreville, died Dec. 18 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, he resided in Eatontown 25 years, and Puerto Rico, prior to moving to Sayreville seven years ago. He was a chef at Patterson Army Hospital, Eatontown, for more than 20 years, retiring 12 years ago. He served with the U.S. Army as a medic for 30 years during World War II and the Korean War. He was predeceased by two sisters, Maria and Amelia; and a brother, Manuel. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alfonsa Lopez Medina; three sons, Frank Medina and John Medina, both Sayreville, and Alvin Lopez, of New York City; a daughter, Carmen Medina, of New York City; two brothers, Domingo Medina and Rubin Medina, of Puerto Rico; four sisters, Delores Colon and Isabell Medina, both Puerto Rico, and Delfina Medina and Anna Louisa Medina, both Newark; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church, Sayreville. Burial was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Francis “Gal” Galmiche Mr. Galmiche, 83, of Monroe, died Dec. 16 at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was employed at the Borough of Spotswood Water Department for more than 20 years, retiring in 1982. He was a life member of the Spotswood Fire Department. Mr. Galmiche was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, in 1983. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janine and Herbert Fisher of Texas, and Cynthia and Joseph Casale of Spotswood; and two granddaughters. Interment was at Our Lady of Victories Cemetery, Sayreville. The Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood, was in charge of arrangements.
Julius Micheli Mr. Micheli, 87, of Cranbury, died Dec. 16 at Shorerock Gardens, Brick. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Krupa Micheli, in April. Mr. Micheli is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Marilyn Micheli of Brick, and Robert and Linda Micheli of Boonton; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Jamesburg, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.
Jacquelyn R. Merendino Mrs. Merendino, 68, of Monroe, died Dec. 17 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She is survived by her husband, Anthony; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricci and Lori Merendino of Monroe, and Tony and Julie Merendino of Atlanta; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Teresa Colletti of Valrico, Fla.; Debbi and Pat Rogan of Warwick, N.Y.; Christi and Frank Sorgente, and Jodi and Freddy Bencivenga, all of Staten Island, N.Y.; and Lori and John Malaspina of Pittstown; a sister, Sharon Cronin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and 16 grandchildren. Entombment took place at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. The Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Raymond F. McBriarty Mr. McBriarty, 85, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 21 at home. Surviving are his wife, Ann Alexander McBriarty; seven sons, James of Algonquin, Ill., Robert of Orinda, Calif., Thomas of Spotswood, Michael of Edison, William and Joseph, both at home, and Raymond McBriarty Jr. of Kentucky; two daughters, Patricia McBriarty of East Brunswick and Maureen Testa of Manalapan; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
Enid Fern VanEtten Haacker Mrs. Haacker, 80, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 25 at home. A son, Richard M. Haacker, died in 1993. She was a registered nurse. Surviving are her husband, William C. Haacker III; three sons, William L. Haacker of Oakhurst, David S. Haacker, M.D., of Secaucus and Paul F. Haacker of East Brunswick; a daughter-in-law, Patricia McDaniel Haacker of Oakhurst; three sisters, Dorothy Seidelman and Nancy Weaver both of Wisconsin, and Marybelle Lucas of Illinois; a brother, Warren VanEtten of Alabama; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Foundation for AIDS Research or to the American Heart Assertion.
Joy Wang Huang Mrs. Huang, 87, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 22 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Tsung-Shih Huang, died in 1997. Surviving are three sons, John Huang of the Annandale section of Clinton, Teddy Huang of Oakton, Va., and Simon Huang of East Brunswick; a daughter, Kay Lee of Hillsborough, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Rutgers Community Christian Church, Somerset section of Franklin. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
