Officials should do their jobs, not advertise on park signs The borough of South River should be proud of the wonderful job that is being done to upgrade and maintain our community parks. Heartfelt thanks go to all individuals who have made this possible. However, the billboards, which promote the people involved in the improvements, detract from the natural beauty of the parks. Some signs are outdated and contain names of people no longer in office or residing in South River. We need to take a long, hard look at what these signs are telling people. Signs should be in a prominent place, identifying the park’s name and location, period. Unnecessarily including the names of people who allocated taxpayers’ money for park improvements is nothing but back-patting and self-promotion. These people were voted into office to do this job. So do it, and stop cluttering our parks with billboards that let us know you did your job. Stanley M. Jurewicz South River
