  • Spotswood Youth Baseball League is holding board elections for the spring season on Monday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Spotswood Municipal Building. Also, early registration for players ages 5-15 will be offered at a reduced rate on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 am until 1 p.m. at the Spotswood Municipal Building.

The U14B Monroe Strikers finished their season with a game against the Rolling Hills Cyclones, played just south of Canada. In spite of the travel, the Strikers started strong and took control of the game early. Dillon Tringali was the iron man at center forward with his play inspiring the team to great teamwork. T.J. Benedict took a turn in the net and made a heart-stopping save to keep the net empty. Kevin Leatherwood, Ryan Osborne, Pete Riccobene and Adam Kennedy all combined to keep the shutout, and Tim Gran, Richard Zheng, David Knotts, Dillon Card and Eric Somers played relentlessly in support of the team effort. Goals from Matt Sepe, Ryan Osborne (2), Benedict, Kevin Leatherwood and Pete Osborne gave the Strikers the win on the scoresheet, but teamwork and good sportsmanship gave them the more important moral victory. Tringali was unlucky not to score after having a free kick saved at the last second, and a goal disallowed after an unintentional handball. The Strikers will now regroup after an injury-plagued season and play indoor at Mercer County College.

Milltown Little League will hold its 2005 baseball registration Jan. 11 and 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the senior citizens center on Violet Terrace. All kids ages 5-16 are eligible. Forms will be handed out in school in January, or are available at borough hall and the public library. If unable to attend, mail to the address on the form. Any questions, call Gary (732) 247-3547

East Brunswick baseball, softball and buddy ball spring registration will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, and the final registration will be Thursday, Dec. 9, from 7-9 p.m. Registration will be at the East Brunswick Baseball Complex in Managers Hall off Dunhams Corner Road. Registration is open to surrounding towns based on East Brunswick’s Babe Ruth charter. Registration after these dates will be subject to late fees and a waiting list. The holiday clothing sale will also be held during those times as well. Additional information can be found on the Web site at www.ebbl.org, or call (732) 254-5911 and leave

    a message.
