Dec. 2

• Adopt-A-Family, sponsored by the South River Elementary School PTA, to make the holiday season more enjoyable for disadvantaged children in South River. • “Really Big Coloring Books” Sale, sponsored by the East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce. Books available at these East Brunswick locations: W. Berman Decorating Marketplace, 252 Route 18; Greenfield Jewelers, 418 Route 18; The Whitman Companies, 116 Tices Lane, Unit B1; Wachovia Bank, 300 Route 18 and 756 Route 18. • Holiday grave blanket sale, sponsored by St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, South River. Cost is $20 for a 36-inch blanket decorated with pine cones, poinsettias, bow. Orders taken through Dec. 4 by telephone and after all Masses at St. Mary’s Church, Jackson Street, South River. Pickup is noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 11. • Toys for Tots collection, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR), every Saturday and Sunday, at the Santa Claus display, Menlo Park Mall, Edison. New, unwrapped toys sought. Dec. 3

• Father/Daughter Mother/Son Dinner-Dance, to benefit Sami’s Supporting Cast, sponsored by the Old Bridge Youth Guidance Council, 7 p.m., at the George Bush Senior Center in the municipal complex, Route 516 and Cottrell Road. Proceeds benefit Sami’s Supporting Cast, an organization to aid Samantha Stanley, an 18-year-old Old Bridge resident fighting to overcome lymphoma. Music by the Music Exchange. • Holiday Gift Boutique, sponsored by Sayrebrook Pet Adoption Center, noon to 7 p.m. on Dec. 3, noon

• Art auction, sponsored by Congregation Beth Ohr, preview at 7:30 p.m., auction begins at 8:30 p.m., at the temple, 70 Route 516, Old Bridge. Framed art, sculpture, hand-blown glass, memorabilia. • Breakfast With Santa, to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, 8:30-10:30 a.m., at all Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar restaurants in New Jersey, including the location at Ryders Crossing Shopping Center, Milltown Road and Ryders Lane, Milltown. With a $10 per person donation to Toys for Tots, youngsters have breakfast with Santa, compliments of Applebee’s. Children under age 2 admitted free of charge. Adults accompanying children receive breakfast and raffle ticket for door prizes. Applebee’s also offers paper gift packages for $1 to raise additional money for Toys for Tots. (732) 651-8151.
