County to offer free flu, pneumonia vaccinations

The Middlesex County Health Department will administer free flu and pneumococcal vaccinations from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 6 at the Sayreville Senior Citizens Center, 423 Main St.

The flu vaccine will be available to all Middlesex County residents age 18 and above. Proof of age and county residence will be required. Individuals who have Medicare Part B coverage must present their identification cards at the center.

The pneumococcal vaccine will be administered by appointment only and is available only to those residents who are 65 years of age and older and who have not previously received the vaccine. Appointments may be made by calling (732) 745-3100, 2-4 p.m., beginning Sept. 13. Medicare Part B will be billed for the pneumococcal vaccine. Residents must present their Medicare identification cards at the center.
