Obituaries Mrs. Moskowitz, 62, of Sayreville died Dec. 19 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. She was a bookkeeper at Jacobsen, Goldfarb and Tanzman, Woodbridge, the past five years. Mrs. Moskowitz is survived by her husband of 42 years, Benjamin Moskowitz; a son, David Moskowitz of Morgan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and Christopher Hill of Spotswood, and Eve French of Keyport; three brothers, Larry Berkowitz of Fort Myers, Fla., Stuart Karmelin of Dacula, Ga., and Howard Karmelin of Atlanta; two sisters, Rachel Rabinowitz of Queens, N.Y., and Marilyn Smith of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements were by Eckman Funeral Home, Spotswood. John W. Kasper Mr. Kasper, 87, of East Brunswick died Dec. 16 at home. He was a machine mechanic at Kraft Foods Inc., Lehigh Valley, Pa., and Hillside, for 20 years, retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. Mr. Kasper was predeceased by his wife, Adele Psemeneki, in 1995; a brother, Andrew Kasper; and two sisters, Margaret Koval and Irene Folger. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Anneclaire Kasper of West Windsor; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Robert McCarthy; a sister, Ann Barrie of Alabama; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Debra Marie Portee Ms. Portee, 47, of Monroe died Dec. 16 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was an insurance broker and vice president at Marsh Inc., New York City, for the past 17 years. She was predeceased by her father, Paul Portee in 1996. She is survived by her mother, Dolores Loguidice Portee of Monroe; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Jackie Portee Jr. of Howell, Joseph M. and Staci Portee of East Brunswick, and Michael and Laura Portee of North Plainfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen F. and Howard Senior of Somers, N.Y., and Patricia Portee-Wells and her husband, Joseph, of South Amboy; one cousin; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Entombment was at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Josephine Borek Biagi Mrs. Biagi, 84, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 29 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Mrs. Biagi is survived by her husband, Adolph Biagi; three daughters, Lorraine Mahoney of Branchburg, and Virginia Pleva and Julia Pearce, both of East Brunswick; three sisters, Julia Lanpher of Florida, Jenny Jakimetz of Queens, N.Y., and Catherine Goff of California; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. service at Holy Cross Burial Park Chapel, South Brunswick. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum. Stanley Sergel Mr. Sergel, 84, of East Brunswick died Dec. 19 at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was retired from Hercules Power Co., Sayreville. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church, South River, where he was member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Sergel was predeceased by two sisters, Edna Rossi and Violet Rice. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Golojuch Sergel; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary’s of Ostrabrama Church, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Edna M. Waszczak Targonski Mrs. Targonski, 85, of Sayreville died Dec. 24 at home. Mrs. Targonski was predeceased by her husband, Zigmont F. Targonski Sr., in 2002; and a son, John F. Targonski, in 1942. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward and Elaine Targonski of Cinnaminson, and Zigmont Targonski Jr. of Bordentown; two sisters, Sophie Galinski of South River and Pearl Kokoska of East Brunswick; two brothers, Edward Waszczak and John Waszczak, both of Florida; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, followed by burial at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville. The Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville, was in charge of arrangements. Diane Budney Goldberg Mrs. Goldberg, 42, of Parlin and formerly of South River, died Dec. 25 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. She was predeceased by her father, Stephen J. Budney. Mrs. Goldberg is survived by her husband, Abraham Goldberg; her mother, Rose Twardos Budney of South River; two sisters, Patricia Kambach of Spotswood and JoAnn Calvo of South River; a brother, Stephen Budney of Sayreville; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick. The Maliszewski Funeral Home, South River, was in charge of arrangements. |
